Two yards, one rack
West to Fresno Yard, south-east to the Calwa rails
Fresno Yard lies just 2.6 miles west of Old Fig Garden, with Calwa Yard a further stretch out at 7.1 miles south-east, both mapped on the North American Rail Network that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics maintain. A tractor that shuttles loads between those two yards usually sits on a lot in west or south Fresno between runs, so give us that street address rather than your home address when you get in touch.
Nine point two miles south-east, the Energy Information Administration records a petroleum product terminal under the name Fresno. If your tanker or fuel truck loaded at that rack, keep its tank inspection paperwork in the cab with the title so both can be checked on the day it is collected.
Van-G Logistics, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists as a liquid bulk terminal 16.2 miles south-east, is a second stop for liquid haulers from this side of Fresno. Tell us which of the two sites the trailer served, and send photos of the tank, the valves and the cab along with your first message.
Rockfield, Austin, Academy Black
Gravel and stone north and east of town
Three sites the Mine Safety and Health Administration tracks sit within seventeen miles: Rockfield Plant, a sand and gravel operation 9.9 miles north-east; Austin Quarry, a crushed-stone pit 14.9 miles north; and Academy Black, a dimension-stone quarry 16.6 miles east. Dump trucks, end dumps and flatbeds carrying cut stone are the equipment those sites put on Fresno County roads.
A dump truck that hauls from Rockfield or Austin Quarry is often left parked at the pit or a contractor’s yard rather than in Old Fig Garden itself. Tell us whose gate it is behind and who can unlock it, and we will set the collection around that site’s hours.
For a flatbed that moved slabs from Academy Black, have the registration card and any service records together, and photograph the deck, the tie-down points and the VIN plate along with the cab.
Dairy and ranch loads
Milk tankers and cattle pots off Fresno County farms
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 4,427 farms in Fresno County and names cattle, milk and cotton as its leading products. Livestock haulers, milk tankers and module trucks are the farm equipment that follows from that list.
A milk tanker or cattle pot that works dairies and ranches in the county may be parked out on a farm rather than on a Fresno street. A rural address works fine for us; send a pin or the cross roads, and tell us whether the gate is locked.
Neighborhood contractors
Construction trucks parked in Old Fig Garden
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts record 951 jobs located in Old Fig Garden in 2023, and 51 of them, 5.4 percent, sit in construction. Box trucks, stake beds and single dump trucks are all trucks we collect from neighborhood driveways.
If yours is parked at a house in Old Fig Garden, tell us whether a tow truck can reach it from the street, and have the title in the name of whoever is signing the sale.
Before the driver arrives
A lost title and three CARB rulings
If the California title for your truck has gone missing, ask the state’s title agency for a duplicate before you contact us, and keep the receipt that shows the application is in. The name on the title should match whoever signs the sale.
Three California Air Resources Board rules come up when diesel trucks change hands here. The board’s rulemaking page lists the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements as repealed; a federal court record from the Eastern District of California shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement paused; and the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is listed as contested.
The questions we get asked in Old Fig Garden
- My truck is at a yard near Fresno Yard, not at my house in Old Fig Garden. Can you still collect it from there?Fresno Yard sits 2.6 miles west of the neighborhood on the North American Rail Network, and we collect from yards like the ones around it. Send the yard’s address and the name of someone who can let the driver in.
- My dump truck hauls gravel from Rockfield Plant; which details do you want up front?Rockfield Plant, 9.9 miles north-east on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, is a sand and gravel operation, so start with the VIN, a photo of the bed and the cab, and where the truck is parked now.
- Will you collect a milk tanker that serves Fresno County dairies?Milk is one of the three leading products on USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture for Fresno County, and milk tankers are trucks we collect. Tell us the tank’s capacity, send photos, and have the title ready.
