Ridge-top carriers and where they stay
Of the 171 Paradise carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, just 8 run interstate while 163 keep their loads inside California. For a seller, that usually means the truck is parked on the ridge or somewhere in Butte County rather than out of state, so tell us the street or yard where it sits and we plan the collection around that spot.
Of those Paradise carriers, 46 are private fleets hauling their own goods, according to the same federal carrier census. If your truck belonged to a business that moved its own materials, have the company’s registration paperwork and the name of whoever can sign the title ready when you call.
Cargo on the ridge
Logs, machinery and refuse
General freight is the commonest cargo line among local carriers, with 29 listing it in FMCSA’s census, followed by 10 hauling machinery and large objects and 9 hauling logs, poles, beams and lumber. A log truck or lowboy tractor from the ridge is the kind of unit we collect, so send photos of the bunks, the deck or the gooseneck along with the cab.
Seven Paradise carriers list garbage and refuse as cargo in the federal carrier census. If you are selling a roll-off or packer truck, give us the body make and the VIN up front, and tell us whether it is stored at a transfer site or a private lot so we know whose gate to call.
Table Mountain rock and Morris Ravine gravel
Heading downhill from Paradise, crushed stone comes out of TRP Table Mountain Plant at 10.7 miles and sand and gravel out of Morris Ravine Mine at 13.4 miles, per federal Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that worked those pits can be collected from the quarry yard or from your driveway on the ridge; just tell us which.
Farther south, Sierra Silica Resources sits 19.3 miles away and Pacific Heights Pit 19.9 miles away, both on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, while that agency places Pine Creek Rock lies 20.3 miles to the west. If an aggregate truck is still parked on a mine property, have the site contact’s name and phone number ready when you first call us.
Valley terminals
Fuel and rail in Chico and Oroville
A petroleum product terminal at Chico, 11.4 miles west, appears in the Energy Information Administration’s listings. Fuel tankers and service trucks that loaded there should come with any tank inspection certificates you hold, since those papers answer questions photos cannot.
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Barber Yard lies 12.4 miles west in Chico and Oroville Yard 18.7 miles south. A tractor that pulled loads to either yard may be parked in the valley rather than up on the ridge, and that is fine; give us the address wherever it is.
Ridge rigs pulled over for inspection
Paradise-based trucks stopped at the roadside numbered 64 between August 2024 and August 2026, and those FMCSA inspection records give a median model year of 2019, with 23.4 percent built ten or more years before. Whatever the year of yours, have the registration card and the odometer reading handy when you reach out.
Twenty Paradise carriers reported annual mileage to FMCSA, and the median among them was 15,773 miles per truck. Gather the service logs and inspection reports from those runs and keep them with the title for collection day.
Builders, farms and jobs in Butte County
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau show 71 construction establishments in Paradise, and LEHD job counts for 2023 list 243 construction jobs, 9.3 percent of the 2,607 total. Contractors selling a flatbed, a dump or a crane truck can have the business registration and the signer’s name ready.
Butte County had 1,667 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with rice, cattle and corn at the top. A farm truck or cattle hauler kept on a ranch outside town can be collected right there; tell us how the gate and the road in are set up.
The questions we get asked in Paradise
- My end-dump sits in the Table Mountain quarry yard below the ridge; does it have to come up to Paradise first?TRP Table Mountain Plant is 10.7 miles south of Paradise on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from that yard directly. Pass along the name of whoever runs that Table Mountain yard so our driver is expected at the scale house.
- I cannot find the California title for a truck I kept in Paradise; where does a replacement come from?A Paradise truck carries a California title, and the state’s title agency is where a duplicate is requested. Start that request and tell us, and we can talk through the rest of the paperwork while it is in hand.
- Will you take a log truck that hauled timber off the Paradise ridge?Nine Paradise carriers list logs, poles, beams and lumber as cargo in FMCSA’s carrier census, and log trucks are among what we collect. Send photos of the bunks and the trailer along with the VIN.
