Sell your semi truck for cash in Penn Valley the easy and convenient way

Penn Valley is a Nevada County town with gravel pits and stone quarries to its west and north and Beale Air Force Base beyond them; its trucks carry rock, machinery, lumber and farm supplies.

Parks Bar to Stringer

Quarry ground west and north of Penn Valley

Parks Bar Quarry, a crushed-stone operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 7.7 miles west of town, is the closest pit to Penn Valley. If your dump truck or end-dump tractor has been loading there, we can collect it at the yard or at your place, so tell us which gate it sits behind and whether a lowboy or a tow truck can reach it.

Two sand and gravel sites sit just under ten miles out on the MSHA list: Ridge Rock Quarry to the north at 9.8 miles and STRINGER PIT to the west at 9.9. A truck that has spent its days between those pits and local job sites is the kind we buy outright; send the VIN, a few clear photos of the cab, frame and bed, and the body type so we know what we are looking at.

Farther south-west, Capital Rock LLC appears on the Mine Safety and Health Administration roll as an industrial-mineral mine 14.4 miles away. If your truck is parked at a site like that, give us the site contact and we arrange the pickup with them directly.

Fifty-two carriers registered around town

FMCSA’s carrier census counts 52 active carriers based in Penn Valley, and 48 of them keep to intrastate work while only 4 hold interstate authority. For a seller here, that usually means a California-plated truck that never left the state; have the California registration card and the title together before you call.

Fifteen of those 52 are private fleets, trucks run by a business to move its own goods rather than to haul for hire, according to the same federal census. If your truck belonged to a contractor, ranch or supply business, the title may be in the company’s name, so check who signs before we schedule the collection.

The biggest outfit on FMCSA’s roll here runs 7 power units with 3 drivers, the next 4 units with one driver, and a third 3 units with 3 drivers. Selling two or three trucks from a small fleet like that is one conversation with us; list each VIN and where each unit is parked.

General freight, heavy equipment and timber loads

General freight is the cargo listed by 16 of Penn Valley’s carriers in the federal motor carrier census, and machinery or large objects by 8. A box truck, flatbed or tractor that moved either kind of load is something we take; a photo of the deck or the box interior helps us see the setup.

Four local carriers in the FMCSA records haul logs, poles, beams and lumber, and another four carry farm supplies. Log trucks with bunks and stakes, or flatbeds rigged for feed and fencing, should be described with their equipment so we know what is attached and what comes off before pickup.

Penn Valley added 4 carriers to FMCSA’s census in 2024 and another 3 during 2025. If you started up in one of those years and are now stepping away, a short ownership history makes the title transfer simpler; keep the registration paperwork from your first year with the title.

Within reach of home

Drivers who stay near the foothills

Driver records in the FMCSA census put 110 drivers from Penn Valley carriers inside a hundred-mile radius of home base and 41 working past it. Most local trucks, then, are likely to be sitting in a yard, a driveway or a job site in western Nevada County when you are ready to sell, and that is where we come to get them.

Among the nine Penn Valley outfits that give FMCSA a yearly mileage, the middle figure is 12,500 miles for each truck. Have the current odometer reading ready along with the VIN; those two numbers start every quote conversation we have.

Beale Air Force Base, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 11.9 miles west, lies along the same westward direction as the quarries. A truck based out that way is still within easy reach of our collection drivers, so give the full street address and any gate or access notes.

Penn Valley sellers whose title has gone missing can head 8.8 miles to the Grass Valley office of the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, at 890 Sutton Way, Grass Valley, 95945, one of its DMV field offices. If the title is lost, that is where a duplicate is requested; start that before the truck is collected.

When the title shows a lender, bring the lien release with it; when it shows a business, bring proof of who can sign for that business. Having the title, the current registration and any service records in one folder lets us finish the transfer on the day we pick the truck up.

Clean-truck regulations as California stands now

California’s Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested, according to the California Air Resources Board’s own notice of amendments. The state’s goal of all medium- and heavy-duty sales being zero-emission by 2036 is also on hold, with enforcement paused under a federal court filing in the Eastern District of California.

Penn Valley owners who followed the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation should know its drayage and high-priority fleet requirements have been repealed, per the Air Resources Board’s rulemaking page. A diesel tractor or work truck from a town with 369 jobs counted by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 can be sold to us as it stands, with its registration and title in order.

Livestock trucks

Cattle, sheep and goat operations nearby

USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 620 farms across Nevada County, with cattle, sheep and goats at the top of the county’s list. Stock trailers’ tow rigs, flatbeds and feed trucks from those ranches are welcome here; tell us whether a trailer is included in the sale.

Ranch trucks often sit out in a pasture or behind a barn, so send a photo of where the truck is parked and the gate it is behind. Ranch titles are sometimes held jointly by family members, and every name on the title will need to sign.

The questions we get asked in Penn Valley

  • My Penn Valley truck’s title is gone; who issues the replacement, and how far off are they?Penn Valley’s closest State of California Department of Motor Vehicles field office is at 890 Sutton Way in Grass Valley, about 8.8 miles away, and a duplicate title is requested there.
  • Will you pick up a truck parked at a quarry?Penn Valley has Parks Bar Quarry 7.7 miles west and Ridge Rock Quarry 9.8 miles north on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from sites like those once you give us the gate and contact details.

  • Will you take a Penn Valley log truck with its bunks and stakes?Four Penn Valley carriers in the federal motor carrier census haul logs, poles, beams and lumber, and those trucks are on our list; tell us which bunks, stakes or loader come with it.
