Log haulers on the ridge
Five Pollock Pines outfits, out of 40 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, file logs, poles, beams and lumber as their freight. A log truck from here is usually a tractor with a bunk trailer or a self-loader, and it often sits at a landing or a home yard up a forest road rather than in town. Tell us the road it is on and whether a lowboy or a tow rig can reach it, and we plan collection around that.
Timber work tends to leave a trail of paper: scale tickets, haul contracts, service invoices from the shop that kept the loader working. Keep whatever you have in the cab file. Send photos of the bunks, the loader boom and the tractor’s frame rails with the VIN.
Stone and slate
Diamond Quarry, Chili Bar and Big Seam
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Diamond Quarry, a crushed-stone operation 10.3 miles west of Pollock Pines, and Chili Bar Slate, another crushed-stone site 12.4 miles out in the same direction. Dump trucks and end-dumps that have run aggregate from those pits down to job sites are trucks we take.
Farther off, Big Seam mine shows up in MSHA’s register as a metal mine 21.9 miles to the north-west. If your truck is still parked at a quarry or mine yard, ask the site whether a visitor needs an escort or a gate pass, and pass that on when you send us the address so the pickup does not stall at the entrance.
Small outfits, mostly in-state
Only 2 of the town’s carriers are registered for interstate work, while 38 run intrastate, according to the federal motor carrier census. For a seller that usually means California plates and California registration, so have the current registration card and the title in the name that appears on it before we arrange collection.
The biggest one on FMCSA’s books runs 15 power units with 12 drivers, the next 8 units with 4 drivers, and a third 3 units with 2 drivers; eight of the 40 are private fleets hauling their own goods. Whether you are selling one truck from a two-unit operation or thinning a larger yard, list each VIN separately so every truck gets its own look.
New registrations are rare in this corner of the Sierra foothills: FMCSA counted one new carrier in 2025 and none in 2024. If you are the owner-operator closing out your authority, tell us, and keep the USDOT number handy, since it ties the truck to the filings we will ask about.
Builders and movers
Construction, general freight and machinery
Census Bureau LEHD counts for 2023 put 635 jobs in Pollock Pines, 50 of them in construction, a 7.9 percent share. Twenty-one construction establishments operate locally under the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally. Flatbeds, dump trucks and service bodies from those contractors are all on our list; a parked truck at a job site or behind a shop is easy for us to reach if you tell us which.
Three local carriers file general freight and two file machinery and large objects, by FMCSA’s census, so box trucks and lowboy tractors also turn up here. Two more list driveaway and towaway work. For any of them, a photo of the data plate on the door jamb saves a round of questions about the exact model and axle setup.
Ranch and tree-farm trucks
El Dorado County had 1,204 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle and cut Christmas trees among the leading products. Stock trailers’ tow rigs, flatbeds that carry trees to lots each winter and feed trucks all come off operations like these.
A farm truck is often titled to a ranch or a family trust rather than one person. Check whose name is on the California title, and if a lien holder or a partner shares it, gather their release or signature before we schedule anything. If the title is lost, the state’s title agency issues a duplicate; start that request before you contact us.
CARB rules and a Pollock Pines sale
The California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Fleets requirements for drayage, high-priority and federal fleets are listed as repealed, and enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused under a federal court filing in the Eastern District of California. The Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation remains contested, per CARB’s own announcement of amendments.
None of that changes what we buy: we take trucks from Pollock Pines whatever rule applies to the next owner. Keep any emissions or smog paperwork with the title so it travels with the truck.
