Greenhouse trucks
Rainbow’s growers and the trucks that carry their plants
In 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 370 of Rainbow’s 1,186 jobs, 31.2 percent, in farming, forestry and related work. If your truck is a box truck, a reefer or a flatbed that moved potted stock off a grower’s lot, it is likely parked at that grower’s yard or greenhouse, and we can collect it there.
Across San Diego County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 4,031 farms, with foliage plants, potted flowering plants and cut flowers with cultivated greens leading the crop list. A nursery truck that ran pallets of plants down to the coast is the kind of vehicle we buy here; send a photo of the body and the liftgate along with the cab and the VIN plate.
Growers often keep a truck titled to the farm business rather than to a person. Before you contact us, check whose name sits on the title, so the signature we need on pickup day comes from the right owner.
Quarries east and south of town
Oceanview Mine, an industrial-mineral operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 5.7 miles east of Rainbow, is the closest pit on the map. Dump trucks and tractors with end-dump trailers that worked there may still be parked on a mine-side lot; tell us whether the gate is open to visitors or needs an escort.
Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places the Superior - Twin Oaks crushed-stone quarry 12.6 miles south and the Jerry Brown dimension-stone quarry 18.1 miles to the south-east. North-west of town, the Nichols Road Pit, a sand and gravel operation, is 24.2 miles away in Mine Safety and Health Administration records.
For an aggregate hauler, keep the bed, hoist and tarp system in your photos, and add any service records you have. If the truck is still on a quarry site, give us the site contact so collection can be arranged with them.

Construction and wholesale work out of Rainbow
Construction makes up 166 jobs in Rainbow, or 14 percent of the local total, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Water trucks, flatbeds and stake-bed trucks from those crews are welcome; tell us the body type and whether any equipment mounted on it stays with the truck.
Wholesale trade adds 90 jobs, a 7.6 percent share, and manufacturing another 65, or 5.5 percent, in that same 2023 LEHD release. Delivery straight trucks and day cabs from those firms usually sit at a warehouse dock or a business lot, and that is where we come to pick them up.
Have the registration card and the keys together before the visit, and note the odometer reading when you first write to us.
Camp Pendleton, Fallbrook and the Stuart Mesa line
To the west, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics marks the Fallbrook California military installation at 9 miles and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton at 16.7 miles. If your truck hauled to either one, tell us where it is kept now rather than where it last worked.
On the rail map that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics publish as the North American Rail Network, Stuart Mesa Yard lies south-west of Rainbow, 19.6 miles off. A tractor that shuttled freight to that yard can be collected wherever it is parked, whether that is a home driveway in Rainbow or a lot near the coast.
Either way, a clear set of photos taken in daylight, cab and chassis both, lets us understand the truck before we arrange a visit.
The Diaz Road field office
A missing title is handled by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, and its Temecula field office at 27851 Diaz Road, Temecula, 92590, is 6.8 miles from Rainbow. Request a duplicate there before you sell, and bring the VIN and your identification with you.
If a lender still holds a lien on the truck, the release needs to reach the DMV field office too. Ask the lender for a signed lien release, then keep it with the title so both documents travel with the truck.
A Rainbow seller who has the title, registration and release ready by the time we arrive keeps the handover to a few signatures at the truck.
California’s zero-emission truck rules today
The state’s Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is contested. Its 2036 requirement that all medium- and heavy-duty trucks sold be zero-emission has enforcement on hold after a federal court ruling.
Rainbow owners who followed the fleet rules for drayage and high-priority fleets can note that the state repealed that part of the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation. We buy diesel and gasoline trucks from this corner of San Diego County regardless of where those rules settle.
