Produce, cattle and reefer work around Reedley
Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting account for 1,845 of the 8,350 jobs counted in Reedley in 2023, a 22.1 percent share in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. A reefer tractor or a flatbed that hauls for local farms is often parked at a ranch shop or a packing shed rather than in town. Send us the street address or the cross roads, plus the name of whoever holds the gate key, and we can plan collection around the farm’s schedule.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 4,427 farms in Fresno County, with cattle, milk and cotton at the top of the county’s sales. Cattle pots, milk tankers and module trucks that serve those operations are all trucks we purchase. Have the California title and current registration together before you call, and if the trailer goes with the tractor, keep its paperwork in the same folder.
Among Reedley carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, 72 list fresh produce as cargo, 33 list farm supplies and 24 list refrigerated food. For a reefer unit, photos of the reefer’s hour meter and the data plate on the box help us identify the setup before anyone travels out to see it.
Reedley’s private fleets and for-hire haulers
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 349 active carriers based in Reedley: 311 run intrastate only, 38 run interstate, and 108 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A private fleet truck from a packer or a farm supply yard usually carries a company name on the door; tell us who the titled owner is so the paperwork is signed by the right person.
General freight is the most common cargo listed, with 155 Reedley carriers naming it in FMCSA’s carrier census. Whether your tractor pulled dry vans or a flatbed, a clear photo of the VIN plate and the odometer gives us what we need to start.
New registrations keep arriving in town as well: FMCSA’s carrier census records 16 new Reedley carriers in 2024 and 23 in 2025. If you started an operation recently and are selling the first truck you bought, the title may still list a lender; bring the payoff letter or lien release with you.
Reedley carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census report 425 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 461 going beyond that. A truck that runs long hauls may be sitting at a yard in another state when you decide to sell; tell us where it is and we will arrange collection from that location rather than asking you to bring it home.
For the 93 Reedley carriers that report it, the median distance per truck is 30,500 miles a year, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Write down the current odometer reading and engine hours when you contact us, since those two figures are the first things we ask about.
The three biggest fleets based here run 111, 78 and 41 power units, with 47, 57 and 35 drivers respectively, on FMCSA’s carrier census. If you are a fleet manager retiring several units at once, a list of VINs with each truck’s yard location lets us plan the collection as one job.
Pits, terminals and the Calwa rail yard
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Sanger Aggregate Plant 5.9 miles north-west of Reedley, the Sanger Plant sand and gravel operation 9.2 miles north, and Orosi Quarry 11.5 miles east. Dump trucks, transfer trucks and end-dump tractors that work those pits are all on our list. If your truck is parked at a pit, let us know whether the operator needs a site safety briefing before a visitor comes onto the property.
To the west, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists two Van-G Logistics liquid bulk terminals at 10.9 and 16.1 miles, and the Energy Information Administration places the Fresno petroleum product terminal 17.4 miles away. Tank trucks and tractors that pull tankers between those terminals and farm fuel stations around Reedley are welcome; keep any tank inspection certificates with the title.
Calwa Yard, on the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, lies 18.8 miles west of town. A day cab that shuttles loads to and from that yard can be collected from the drop lot or your own driveway, whichever is easier to reach.
Reedley trucks at the scale and roadside checks
Between 2024-08-28 and 2026-08-27, inspectors stopped 280 Reedley-based trucks, and FMCSA roadside inspection records give their median model year as 2019. The same FMCSA roadside inspection records put 27.9 percent of those trucks at ten or more model years old. We buy trucks across that whole range, so give us the model year straight from the title.
If your truck went through a roadside inspection in that window, keep the inspection report with the sale documents. It lists the VIN and the unit details in the same format FMCSA uses, which saves a round of questions.
Signing over a Fresno County truck
California titles are handled by the state’s title agency, and a lost title is replaced through that office before the sale is completed. If the registered owner is a business, have an officer who can sign for it available when the truck is collected.
California’s Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is listed as contested, enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused, and the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements as repealed. Whatever engine your Reedley truck carries, tell us its engine family from the emissions label under the hood so we can match it against those rules.
Construction firms number 44 and warehousing businesses 5 in Reedley on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns, and the LEHD job counts put 106 construction jobs and 273 transportation and warehousing jobs in town. Contractors selling a dump truck or a water truck off a job site can leave it there; give us the site address and a phone number for the foreman.
