Ridgecrest’s registered haulers and their loads
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 90 active carriers in Ridgecrest, and 35 of them declare general freight as cargo. If your tractor or box truck has been hauling mixed loads in and out of the valley, have the title and current registration in one folder before you call, and we can start on the truck the same conversation.
Eight Ridgecrest carriers on the federal census haul motor vehicles, seven carry beverages and six move machinery and large objects, according to FMCSA. A car hauler, a beverage route truck or a lowboy tractor are all trucks we collect here; tell us the body type and the trailer setup so we bring the right equipment to load it.
Of those carriers, 76 run intrastate only, 11 cross state lines and 22 are private fleets hauling their own goods, per FMCSA registration records. A private-fleet truck sold by a business needs the title in the company’s name and someone able to sign for it, so sort out who signs before pickup day.
Searles Yard, the rock plant and Sydney Peak
The North American Rail Network places Searles Yard about 10 miles south of Ridgecrest. If your truck is parked down by the yard, send us the gate details and the name of someone on site, and we will collect it from there.
Ridgecrest Rock Plant, a sand and gravel operation listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, is 16.4 miles north-west of town, and Sydney Peak Stone, a dimension-stone quarry on the same agency’s roll, is 21.9 miles south. Dump trucks, end dumps and flatbeds that served either site are welcome; send photos of the bed, the frame and the cab with the VIN plate visible.
If a quarry truck has spent its life on a site and never been registered for the road, say so up front. We can still buy it, but the paperwork differs, and knowing early saves a second trip out to the pit.
China Lake
Trucks working around the naval station
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake 16.1 miles north-east of the city. Service trucks, flatbeds and box trucks from base contract work are trucks we buy; if your truck sits inside a controlled area, move it to a public address or tell us how access is arranged before we schedule.
Keep service and inspection records from base contract work with the truck. Logs from those jobs show where the truck has been and how it was kept, and they answer questions before we need to ask them.
Ridgecrest jobs in trucking and building
Census Bureau LEHD job counts for 2023 put 7,306 jobs in Ridgecrest, with 480 of them, or 6.6 percent, in transportation and warehousing. Construction accounts for another 174 jobs on the same LEHD figures, while manufacturing holds 62 and wholesale trade 51.
Ridgecrest has 39 construction businesses on the books, going by the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Contractors closing out a job or trimming a yard can sell one truck or several at once; list each VIN and where each one is parked, and we will plan the collection around the sites.
In driver terms, FMCSA registration filings count 152 drivers working within 100 miles of home and 145 going further. A local dump or delivery truck and an over-the-road tractor are equally welcome; just tell us which kind you have.
How old and how far the local trucks go
Across 47 trucks stopped at FMCSA roadside inspections between September 2024 and August 2026, the median model year was 2022 and 19.15 percent were ten or more years old. Whatever the year on your title, bring the title itself, the registration card and the keys to every lock on the truck.
Nineteen Ridgecrest carriers reported annual mileage to FMCSA, and the median was 50,000 miles per truck. Note the odometer reading when you contact us and photograph the dash, so the figure we work from is the one on the truck.
At the top end, FMCSA’s census shows one Ridgecrest outfit with 55 power units and 109 drivers, a second with 25 units and 12 drivers, and a third with 12 units and 8 drivers. Whether you run one truck or a fleet that size, the paperwork is the same for each unit: a title, a registration and a signature.
Kern County dairies, cattle and cotton
Out across Kern County, 1,691 farms raise milk, cattle and cotton as their leading products, according to USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Milk tankers, cattle haulers and ag flatbeds that work the county’s farms are trucks we buy, whether they are parked on the ranch or in a Ridgecrest yard.
If a farm truck’s title has gone missing, California’s title agency issues the replacement, and an application for a duplicate in hand is enough for us to start.
Where California’s clean-truck rules stand for Ridgecrest owners
California’s air regulator lists its Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements as repealed. A federal court filing shows enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement paused, and the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation remains contested.
None of those rules changes what you need to sell a diesel truck in Ridgecrest: the title, the registration and the keys. Bring any emissions certificates you have with the rest of the folder.
