East to the berths
Container ramps three and a half miles from Rolling Hills
Two West Basin Container Terminal ramps, the China Shipping Holding berths 100-109 and the Everglades Company berths 120-126, each sit 3.4 miles east of Rolling Hills on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list of rail intermodal ramps. A day cab that has pulled chassis off those berths can stay parked where it is; give us the street address and we arrange collection there.
Yang Ming Terminal Yard, 3.6 miles east, appears in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your tractor shuttles boxes between that yard and the berths, send the VIN, an odometer photo and a picture of the fifth wheel before anything else.
Tanker gates east
Tank work along the San Pedro side
Rancho San Pedro Terminal, 3.1 miles east of town, and the Los Angeles Lubricants Plant at 3.6 miles both show up as petroleum product terminals in Energy Information Administration records. Owners of tankers or straight trucks serving those gates should keep loading records and any hazmat placard paperwork together with the title.
Kinder Morgan Terminals, a liquid bulk terminal 3.8 miles out, is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, as is the San Pedro Fuel Depot, a military installation only 2.8 miles east. Tell us which of these sites your rig called at, and include photos of the tank, the cab and the plate so the description and the pictures agree.
San Pedro Yard and the switching runs
San Pedro Yard lies 4.3 miles east of Rolling Hills, according to the North American Rail Network of the Federal Railroad Administration and Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Trucks that drop or pick up near that yard are often parked in a lot rather than at a home driveway, so let us know whether a gate code or an escort is needed.
Every facility the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and the rail network list near Rolling Hills lies east of town, the farthest at 4.3 miles, so a pickup here usually means a short run toward the harbor. Mention the nearest cross street and whether the truck sits on level ground when you first get in touch.
North Gaffey paperwork stop
Gaffey Street counter for a replacement title
The State of California Department of Motor Vehicles handles titles through its DMV field offices, and the one closest to Rolling Hills is San Pedro, at 1511 N Gaffey Street, San Pedro, 90731, about 3.1 miles away. A seller whose title is lost or still shows a lienholder starts there.
Bring the registration card, a photo ID and any lien release to that Gaffey Street counter. Once the replacement title is in hand, send us a photo of its front and back along with the registration, and we can move to pickup.
Hillside employment
Employment in a small hillside city
Inside the Rolling Hills limits, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts recorded 402 jobs during 2023. Many trucks registered to addresses here earn their keep elsewhere, at the berths and terminals to the east, so tell us where the truck actually sits today rather than where it is registered.
Service records help just as much for a truck kept on a residential lot as for one kept in a yard. Gather oil change slips, inspection sheets and the most recent registration renewal into one folder before you contact us.
Potting sheds and paddocks
Potted plants, mushrooms and horses across the county
Rolling Hills belongs to Los Angeles County, where USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 766 farms and names potted flowering plants, mushrooms and equine as the leading lines. Box trucks hauling nursery stock and rigs pulling horse trailers fall within what we buy.
If your truck has a liftgate, a stake bed or a horse-trailer hitch, photograph those fittings as well as the cab and frame. Note any body add-ons on the registration so the paperwork matches the truck we collect.
Clean truck regulations and their current status
California’s Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation carries a contested status at present. Separately, a federal court filing on the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles put its enforcement on pause.
Rolling Hills owners who ran drayage out of the harbor should know the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation - Drayage Fleet Requirements and High Priority and Federal Fleets Requirements has been repealed. Keep any compliance filings you made with the truck’s records anyway; they help document its history.
