Sell your semi truck for cash in Ventura the easy and convenient way

Ventura sits on the coast of Ventura County with the Oxnard Harbor District, Port Hueneme’s North Terminal and two Oxnard rail yards all lying south-east of town, and the trucks registered here mostly stay inside California.

Port Hueneme, Oxnard yards and the road south-east

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Oxnard Harbor District 5.4 miles south-east of Ventura, with the Port of Hueneme’s North Terminal, a roll-on/roll-off dock, and a rail intermodal ramp both 8.8 miles out in the same direction. If your tractor hauls between the docks and the ramp, tell us which gate it uses and where it is parked between loads, so we can arrange collection at that spot.

Two rail yards appear on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics: Industrial Plaza Yard at 6.8 miles and Oxnard Yard at 6.9 miles, both toward Oxnard. A day cab that shuttles freight to either yard can be sold from the lot where it is kept; send the VIN, the address and a photo of the cab door with the unit number.

Ventura’s registered carriers and what they haul

Ventura has 860 active carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and 818 of them run intrastate against 42 interstate, with 215 operating as private fleets. For a seller that usually means the truck carries a California registration and is parked close to home, so have the current registration card and the title in your name before you call.

General freight is the cargo listed most, by 201 carriers in the FMCSA census, followed by machinery and large objects at 39, logs, poles, beams and lumber at 30, and fresh produce at 28. Whether yours is a box truck on local general freight, a lowboy tractor moving equipment or a reefer on produce runs, tell us the body or trailer it works with so we know what we are collecting.

Ventura added 25 newly registered carriers in 2024 and another 22 in 2025, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. If you started up in one of those years and are now stepping back, keep your USDOT number paperwork handy; the title and registration should match the name you registered under.

Inspection years and annual miles around Ventura

Ventura-based trucks stopped for FMCSA roadside inspections from August 2024 to August 2026 numbered 564, with a median model year of 2019 and 31.4 percent at ten or more model years. Whichever side of that line your truck falls on, the model year and VIN off the title are the first two things we ask for.

For the 121 carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 15,172 miles a year per truck. Read the odometer before you get in touch and include a clear photo of it, along with any service records you keep, so the details we work from are the ones on the dash.

Driver counts filed with FMCSA show 966 drivers working within 100 miles and 1,423 beyond that radius. If your truck is out on a longer run when you decide to sell, tell us where it will be and when it returns to Ventura County.

Construction, gravel and the growing fields

County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau counts 435 construction establishments, and the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 3,096 of the area’s 56,963 jobs in construction for 2023. Dump trucks, flatbeds and mixers on those jobs can be collected from the yard or the site; just tell us who holds the gate key.

Santa Paula Materials, a sand and gravel operation on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, lies 12.9 miles north-east of Ventura. If your end dump or transfer truck is parked at a pit like that one, ask the operator whether a pickup on their ground needs a check-in.

Ventura County holds 1,812 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with potted flowering plants, cut flowers and propagative material topping its list. Refrigerated straight trucks and produce haulers serving nurseries can be photographed where they stand; include the reefer unit plate in the pictures.

Before collection

Routes, clearances and California rules

The National Bridge Inventory lists 65 bridges around Ventura, none of them load-posted and one under 14 feet: Main Street over the Ventura River, at 13 ft 8 in. If your truck is parked west of that crossing, mention it so the collection route avoids the low clearance.

The California Air Resources Board’s page on the Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high priority fleet requirements lists them as repealed, while its Advanced Clean Trucks amendments are described as contested. None of that changes what we collect; have the title, registration and VIN ready, and if the title has gone missing, the state’s title agency handles a duplicate before the sale.

The questions we get asked in Ventura

  • Is the low bridge on Main Street a problem for pickup? It is only a routing note. The National Bridge Inventory gives Main Street over the Ventura River a clearance of 13 ft 8 in, so tell us if the truck sits near it and we plan the route around it.
  • Which details should a nursery-stock hauler in Ventura County send us?Send the VIN, the title and photos of the box and reefer unit. USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,812 farms in the county, led by potted flowering plants and cut flowers, and we collect from the farm or the yard.
