Sell your semi truck for cash in San Clemente the easy and convenient way

San Clemente sits at the southern tip of Orange County, between quarry roads to the north-east and Camp Pendleton to the south-east, and the trucks registered here mostly stay inside California.

Motor carriers based in town

FMCSA’s carrier census shows 261 active motor carriers based in San Clemente, and 242 of them are cleared for intrastate work against 18 for interstate. A truck from one of those in-state outfits usually carries California registration only, so have the current registration card in the cab when you send us photos of it.

Seventy-three of the San Clemente carriers on FMCSA’s census run private fleets, hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. If your truck belonged to a business that moved its own materials, a bill of sale from that business or a title already signed over to you is the paper we need to see before collection.

The same federal census counts 14 carriers new to San Clemente in 2025, up from 4 the year before. If you bought a truck to start one of those outfits and are now stepping back, the title in your own name plus the operating authority record give us everything needed to start.

Box trucks, refuse bodies and lumber haulers

General freight is the cargo listed by 77 local carriers on FMCSA’s records, so straight trucks and tractors with dry vans account for a good share of what is registered in town. Photograph the van or box as well as the tractor, and note the body length in your message.

On FMCSA’s census, 13 local outfits haul refuse and 12 move household goods. A refuse packer or a moving van usually sits in a company yard rather than on a street, so tell us the yard address and who holds the gate key.

Nine San Clemente carriers on the federal census list logs, poles, beams and lumber. For a flatbed or a log trailer, send a photo of the deck and the stakes or bunks, and say whether the trailer goes with the tractor or stays behind.

Mines and gravel pits up the canyons

The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Orange County Operation, an industrial-mineral mine 4.9 miles north-east of town, and Greenstone Materials Quarry, a sand and gravel operation 8.5 miles out in the same direction. A dump truck or transfer that worked those sites can be collected from the quarry lot if the operator allows access; ask them before you give us the address.

Further out, MAITRI CANYON PLANT at 21.9 miles and Pacific Clay Pits at 23 miles appear on MSHA’s register, both north-east of San Clemente. If a truck parked at one of those pits is yours to sell, have the title and any site pass ready so the driver who comes for it can get through the gate.

Base lots and rail sidings to the south-east

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton lies 12.5 miles south-east, per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, with the Fallbrook military installation 20 miles east. A contractor truck kept on or near a base lot needs an escort or pass arranged by you before we arrive, so mention the base at first contact.

STUART MESA YARD and the STUART MESA FACILITY YARD are rail yards 18.2 miles south-east, as recorded in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and BTS. If your tractor is parked near those tracks, give us the closest cross street and a phone number for whoever can let us in.

Local jobs, fleet sizes and miles

Of 22,318 jobs counted in San Clemente for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 2,615 were in manufacturing, 2,222 in construction and 1,522 in wholesale trade. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 250 construction establishments, so pickups, stake beds and dump bodies from contractors are part of what we collect here.

Among the carriers on FMCSA’s census, 416 drivers stay within 100 miles and 339 go beyond it, and the 37 carriers that report mileage show a median of 10,400 miles per truck. FMCSA’s figures put the top three local fleets at 59, 20 and 11 power units. Whatever the size of your operation, a list of VINs is the right place to begin when selling more than one truck.

Model years, titles and California rules

Across 79 local trucks stopped between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records give a median model year of 2020, with 13.9 percent at ten years or older. Put the model year and VIN in the first message alongside the cab and chassis photos.

If the title is missing, the state’s title agency issues a duplicate to the registered owner, so apply there before we schedule collection. California Air Resources Board notices list the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation as contested and the drayage and fleet parts of the Advanced Clean Fleets rule as repealed, so keep any CARB compliance paperwork you hold with the title.
