Aggregate loads out of the Clayton pits
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Clayton Aggregates, a crushed-stone quarry 5.5 miles north-east of San Miguel, and Clayton Plant, another crushed-stone quarry about 6 miles out in the same direction. Dump trucks, end dumps and transfer rigs that load at those two sites are trucks we buy, and if yours is parked at a quarry yard rather than at home, tell us which one so we can arrange access with whoever holds the gate.
A truck that has hauled aggregate out of Clayton usually has scale tickets, dispatch sheets or service logs from that work. Gather what you have along with the title and current registration, then send photos of the body, the hoist and the cab from each side so we see the whole truck before we talk.
Tank work north toward Martinez
Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration listings north of town: Martinez Terminal at 8.5 miles and Golden Eagle at 10.2 miles. Tank tractors and fuel straight trucks that load at either one fit what we purchase, and so do the day cabs that shuttle between them.
About 11.1 miles north-west, Shell Oil operates a liquid bulk terminal on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics register. If your tractor pulled a tanker into that site, list the terminals it served and keep any hazmat endorsement paperwork or tank test certificates with the title; they explain the truck’s working life better than a description can.
Ozol, Port Chicago and the ocean terminal
Ozol Yard, 11.3 miles north-west, and Port Chicago NAD Yard, 11.6 miles north, are both rail yards on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that drayed freight to or from those yards can be collected where it sits; give us the street address and a contact name.
Military Ocean Terminal Concord, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records 11.4 miles north of San Miguel, is a military installation. If your truck is kept on a lot near it, tell us the address and any access rules for that lot, and we plan the pickup around them.
A small job base in San Miguel itself
San Miguel counted 240 jobs located in town in 2023, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. With that few local employers, a work truck here is often a single owner’s pickup-and-body rig, a service truck or a box truck rather than part of a large yard, and we buy those one at a time.
If the truck is kept in a driveway or on a side street in San Miguel, check that a tow rig or driver can reach it, and tell us about any low branches, gates or tight turns. Have the keys, the title in your name and the registration card in one place for the day we arrive.
Cattle and flower seed across the county
Contra Costa County had 405 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, flower seeds and bulbs, corms, rhizomes and tubers leading its farm output. Livestock haulers, flatbeds and stake-bed trucks that serve those operations are welcome here, including ones kept out on a ranch.
For a farm truck that stays on private land, send a pin or directions to where it is parked and say whether the ground is passable for a tow vehicle. If the registration carries farm plates or an agricultural exemption, mention it in your first message.
California’s clean truck regulations today
California’s Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation requirements for drayage, high-priority and federal fleets have been repealed, according to the state’s rulemaking record. The Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is listed as contested, and enforcement of the zero-emission sales requirement for medium- and heavy-duty trucks is paused under a federal court filing.
None of those rules stops you from selling a diesel truck kept around San Miguel. If you have emissions or inspection certificates on file, include them with the title so the paperwork is complete when we collect.
The questions we get asked in San Miguel
- My end dump sits in a Clayton quarry yard north-east of San Miguel, so does it have to come out of the pit before you collect?Clayton Aggregates is 5.5 miles and Clayton Plant about 6 miles north-east of San Miguel on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings, and we collect from either site. Tell us which quarry and who can let us onto the property.
- I parked my truck in San Miguel years back and can no longer find its title paperwork, so which office replaces it?A San Miguel owner applies to the state’s title agency for a duplicate. Mention the pending duplicate when you first write to us, and we will line up the Contra Costa collection once it arrives.
- Will you take a tank tractor that loaded at Golden Eagle or Martinez Terminal?Martinez Terminal at 8.5 miles and Golden Eagle at 10.2 miles are petroleum product terminals listed by the Energy Information Administration, and tractors that worked them are trucks we buy. Send the VIN and photos of the tractor to get started.
