Sand pits and quarries ringing Solvang
Barely 0.8 miles west of downtown Solvang, the Solvang Plant digs sand and gravel, per the Mine Safety and Health Administration. If your dump truck or transfer rig loads there, give us the yard address and the name of whoever holds the keys.
Bee Rock Quarry, a crushed-stone pit 9.7 miles east according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and SISQUOC AGGREGATES, a sand and gravel site 20.6 miles north-west, round out the rock haul around Solvang. If your truck splits its time between those sites, tell us where it sleeps at night and we will collect it from that spot, not the pit.
Toward the west, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places Acin Ranch, a dimension-stone quarry, 16.5 miles out. For a stone or gravel truck that works the ranch quarry, send photos of the bed, the hoist, the frame rails and the VIN plate.
Lompoc and Ellwood mineral sites
Imerys Lompoc Plant, an industrial-mineral mine, lies 18.5 miles west of Solvang in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing. Bulk tractors and pneumatic trailers that serve a plant like that often stay in Lompoc yards, and we can pick them up there rather than in Solvang.
Ellwood Pit, another industrial-mineral site named by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, sits 17.3 miles south-east. Keep the registration card and any site access paperwork with the truck so the driver who collects it can get through the gate without a call back to you.
Private fleets, shuttles and refuse routes in Solvang
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 79 active carriers based in Solvang; 77 of them run intrastate, one runs interstate, and 32 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck from a private fleet is usually titled to the business, so have the person who can sign for that company on hand when the paperwork comes through.
General freight is the cargo listed by 12 of those carriers, passengers by 10, and garbage and refuse by 5, with another 5 marking utility work, per the same federal carrier census. Shuttle buses, refuse packers and utility bodies all fit what we collect; send a service log for the body or the lift along with the cab photos.
Fleet sizes stay small here: the carrier census shows the biggest Solvang operator at 30 power units and 23 drivers, and the next two at 5 power units each. If you are retiring a single unit from a fleet of five, one truck is enough for us to come out.
Short routes, low annual miles
Across 15 local carriers that report mileage, the median sits at 8,000 miles per truck a year, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Write down the current odometer reading and the engine hours before you contact us; those two figures answer most of what we ask first.
In 2025, the federal carrier census recorded 3 new carriers registering in Solvang, after none in 2024. A newer operator selling its first truck should have the title, the registration and the bill of sale from when the truck was bought, all in one folder.
Payrolls, contractors and county flower growers
Of Solvang’s 3,164 jobs in 2023, transportation and warehousing held 136, manufacturing 115 and construction 104, going by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks, flatbeds and service bodies that support those jobs tend to stay close to town, which makes the pickup address easy to give.
Solvang has 41 construction establishments, as tallied in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. A contractor’s truck often carries a lien or a business loan on its title, so check with your lender before we schedule the collection.
Santa Barbara County had 1,359 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cut flowers, potted flowering plants and transplants led its list. Reefer box trucks and stake beds that move nursery stock are trucks we collect, from the farm itself if that is where they are kept.
A Solvang seller’s title folder
Every truck we collect in Solvang leaves with a signed California title, so look for it before you call. If it has gone missing, the California Department of Motor Vehicles handles a duplicate, and you can start that request while we look over your photos.
Registration, a smog or inspection record if you have one, and any service invoices from local shops round out the folder. Send clear photos of all four sides, the cab interior and the dash with the key on, and we will have what we need to talk about your truck.
