Sell your semi truck for cash in Sonoma the easy and convenient way

Sonoma sits in the valley between the Napa rail yard to the east and the Sonoma County quarries to the west, and the trucks registered here haul farm supplies, fresh produce, refuse and general freight along those valley roads.

Valley outfits that stay in California

Of the 266 Sonoma carriers active in FMCSA’s census, just 16 hold interstate authority while 250 keep their loads inside California. For most sellers here that means a California-plated truck that has stayed inside the state, so have the California registration card and the title in hand when you call us.

Of those Sonoma carriers, 95 run as private fleets hauling their own goods rather than for hire, according to the same FMCSA census. A winery, nursery or contractor selling a truck from its own small fleet should tell us who signs for the business and send the title in the company’s name.

New registrations stay modest in the town: the federal carrier census shows 9 carriers added in 2025 and 6 in 2024. If yours is one of those newer outfits and you are selling a tractor you bought recently, send the title, the bill of sale you received and the current registration together.

Produce, farm supplies and refuse routes

General freight leads the cargo listings at 65 Sonoma carriers in FMCSA’s census, with farm supplies and fresh produce at 17 carriers each and garbage, refuse and trash at 15. Box trucks, reefers, flatbeds and side-load refuse bodies from those Sonoma routes are all trucks we collect.

The USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture puts 3,097 farms across Sonoma County, with milk, cattle and cut flowers among the top products. A feed truck, cattle hauler or flower-delivery reefer parked on a ranch outside town can be collected from that ranch; send us the gate address and a phone number for whoever is on site.

For a refuse or produce truck, photos of the body as well as the cab tell us what equipment is mounted. Include a shot of the reefer unit or the packer, the VIN plate on the door jamb and the odometer, and we have what we need to start.

Dump trucks for the Napa and Sonoma quarries

The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Napa Quarry, an industrial-mineral mine 10.2 miles east of Sonoma, and Soiland Co., a crushed-stone quarry 15.1 miles west. Dump trucks and transfer rigs that load at either site are trucks we buy, and if yours sits in a quarry lot, tell us whose yard it is so pickup can be arranged with them.

Further out, Roblar Quarry, a sand and gravel operation, lies 18.7 miles west, while Lake Herman Quarry, crushed stone, sits 19.3 miles south-east, both on MSHA’s mine list. If you hold mine-site inspection sheets for the truck, keep them with the title and send copies along with the photos.

Census Bureau County Business Patterns figures record 164 construction establishments in the area, and LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau show 248 construction jobs in Sonoma in 2023. A contractor’s dump truck, water truck or flatbed fits that picture, and the title plus the most recent registration are the two papers to find first.

Rail and the bay

Bay-side runs from the Sonoma Valley

On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Napa Yard sits 9.7 miles east of town and Lombard Yard 12.7 miles south-east. A tractor that shuttles loads to either yard can be picked up wherever it is parked between runs.

The SELBYCROCKETT petroleum product terminal, listed by the Energy Information Administration, is 20.2 miles south-east, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the port of Richmond 24 miles south. Tank tractors and container chassis pullers that work the bay side of the county are on our list; give us the terminal or port it served and the VIN.

If the truck is parked down near Richmond or Crockett while you live in Sonoma, it does not have to come back up the valley. Send the address, a contact who can open the lot, and photos, and we go to the truck.

FMCSA roadside inspection records for 117 Sonoma-based trucks inspected between September 2024 and August 2026 show a median model year of 2018, with 34.2 percent at ten or more years old. Whatever the model year of yours, send the year, make and model along with the VIN.

Among the 51 carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median comes to 8,781 miles per truck. Note the odometer in your first message; it is one of the first details we ask for.

Driver radius figures from the same FMCSA census list 331 drivers working within 100 miles and 313 beyond it. Tell us where the truck is kept now, whether that is a Sonoma yard or a terminal outside the valley, so pickup is planned for the right place.

Titles, fleets and the California DMV

The three biggest Sonoma fleets in FMCSA’s census run 70, 44 and 14 power units, and an owner selling several trucks from a fleet that size can list them all in one message with each VIN. We handle each title separately, so group the titles by truck before we arrive.

A lost California title is replaced through the California DMV, the state’s title agency, and the owner on record applies for the duplicate. If the title still shows a lienholder, have the lien release ready as well; both documents go with the truck when we collect it.

The questions we get asked in Sonoma

  • Can you collect a dump truck that is sitting at the Soiland quarry west of town?Soiland Co.’s crushed-stone quarry is 15.1 miles west of Sonoma on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from quarry lots like that one. Name the person who opens the quarry gate and we will set the collection up through them.
  • Would you take a produce or feed truck that only hauls for my own Sonoma ranch?FMCSA’s carrier census lists 17 Sonoma carriers hauling fresh produce, 17 hauling farm supplies and 95 private fleets, and trucks from all of those fit what we buy. Send the title, the VIN and a few photos to start.
  • Who issues a replacement title if a Sonoma truck’s title has gone missing?Sonoma titles are issued by the California DMV, the state’s title agency, and the registered owner applies to it for a duplicate. Let us know when the duplicate application is filed so the truck’s paperwork and collection line up.
