Redwood City’s yard and harbor, just up the Peninsula
REDWOOD CITY YARD lies 4.4 miles north-west of Stanford, on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A day cab that shuttles freight between that yard and Peninsula receivers is often parked close by, so give us the street address of the lot along with the VIN when you get in touch.
Slightly farther along the same bearing, 6.7 miles out, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the port at Redwood City. If your tractor or flatbed works the harbor gates, tell us whose yard it sleeps in and who holds the keys, and the collection can be set up with that person directly.
Across the bay, NEWARK YARD sits 10.4 miles north-east, another terminal on the North American Rail Network. A truck that crosses the water to serve it does not need to come back to Stanford to be sold; send photos of the cab, frame and tires from wherever it is parked.
Aggregate hauling between the Langley Hill and Stevens Creek pits
The Mine Safety and Health Administration records Langley Hill Quarry, a crushed-stone operation 7.7 miles south-west of Stanford. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump trailers that haul aggregate out of those hills are trucks we buy, and a photo of the bed and the hoist alongside the registration card answers most of our first questions.
Stevens Creek Quarry is the second crushed-stone site nearby, 10.1 miles south-east, per Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. If the dump truck is kept at the pit itself, let us know the gate hours and the site contact, since quarry yards are rarely open around the clock to visitors.
Two fuel racks fourteen miles east toward San Jose
Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration records east of Stanford: SAN JOSE at 14.3 miles and SHELL SAN JOSE TERMINAL at 14.4 miles. Tank trucks and tractors pulling fuel trailers between those racks and Peninsula stations belong on our list.
For a tanker, gather the title, the current registration and any tank test or inspection paperwork before calling. Those records travel with the truck and save a second round of questions once we have seen the photos.
Jobs, farms and the base at Mountain View
Stanford counted 20,288 jobs in 2023 under the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks and service bodies that keep those workplaces supplied are the kind of vehicle we pick up from a campus lot, a shop or a driveway in town.
Santa Clara County held 825 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, led by mushrooms, potted flowering plants and cattle. Refrigerated straight trucks for nursery stock and livestock haulers for cattle both qualify, and the title in the owner’s name is the one document we need first.
Seven point seven miles east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists NAVPMOSSP Mtn View as a military installation. A truck parked behind a controlled gate can still be collected; just tell us early so access can be arranged ahead of the visit.
CARB’s fleet and truck sales rules as Stanford owners find them
The California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Fleets drayage and high-priority fleet requirements are listed as repealed, and its Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation is listed as contested. The board’s own rulemaking notices carry the current wording for owners around Stanford who want to read it.
A federal court filing in the Eastern District of California shows enforcement of the 2036 rule requiring all medium- and heavy-duty sales to be zero-emission as paused. None of that changes what we need from you: the title, the registration and clear photos of the truck where it sits.
The questions we get asked in Stanford
- My tri-axle dump sits in the Langley Hill Quarry lot - does it have to come down to Stanford first?Langley Hill Quarry is 7.7 miles south-west of Stanford in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from quarry yards like it. Give us the gate hours and the name of whoever can let us in.
- I hauled fuel out of the San Jose terminals but live elsewhere now. Can I still sell the tanker? The SAN JOSE and SHELL SAN JOSE TERMINAL racks sit about 14 miles east of Stanford by Energy Information Administration listings, and the tanker can stay near them. Send the location, a contact on site and the title, and you can handle the rest from wherever you are.
- Our truck is kept inside the NAVPMOSSP Mtn View fence - can it be collected from there?NAVPMOSSP Mtn View lies 7.7 miles east of Stanford according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and a gated base just means arranging access in advance.
