Groves and fields
Strathmore’s work starts in the orchards
Of the 686 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in Strathmore for 2023, 317 are in agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting, close to half. If your truck has spent its seasons moving bins and loads between the groves and the packing sheds around town, tell us which roads and yards it works from, so we know where to find it when we come.
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 28 Strathmore carriers that haul fresh produce and 10 that carry farm supplies. Reefer units, flatbeds and the tractors that pull them are all trucks we take. Before you call, have the title in hand and the reefer unit’s hours or service log if it has one, along with photos of the tractor and trailer together.
Quarries and gravel east of town
Decomposed Granite Pit, a crushed-stone quarry recorded by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, lies 7.6 miles east of Strathmore. Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Tule River/Success Dam sand and gravel operation 9.9 miles to the south-east and Deer Creek Asphalt 11.4 miles in that same direction. Dump trucks and end dumps that load at sites like these can be collected at the pit gate or a nearby yard; give us the site name and a contact who can let us in.
Lemoncove Granite, another crushed-stone quarry on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, sits 16.6 miles north of town. A truck that hauls rock off that hill is one we buy where it is parked. Photos of the dump bed raised and lowered, plus the VIN, give us what we need to start.
Exeter’s rail yard and a milling terminal up the valley
Drive 11 miles north-west from Strathmore and you reach Exeter Yard, a rail yard on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck shuttles loads to and from that rail yard, it can stay where it works; tell us the address and we plan the pickup around your schedule.
Western Milling LLC runs a liquid bulk terminal 24.7 miles to the north-west, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Tankers and the tractors that pull them out to a terminal like that are on our list too. Keep the tank’s inspection records with the truck, since they answer most of our questions before we ask them.
Strathmore haulers who keep their wheels in California
Strathmore has 140 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census: 124 run intrastate only, 16 cross state lines and 17 operate private fleets. Whether you own a single tractor or run a handful of them, we buy one truck or several at a time, and the paperwork is the same: a title in the seller’s name and a registration that matches it.
General freight is the most common cargo listed, at 53 carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, followed by machinery and large objects at 13. Among the three biggest local fleets on that census, power units run 76, 31 and 29. If you are clearing out part of a fleet, list each unit’s VIN in one message and we can work through them together.
Six new carriers started up here in 2025 and five in 2024, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. If you started out recently and now want to sell a truck you bought for the business, the title and any lien release are what we will ask about first.
A 2020 median among trucks stopped at the roadside
A median model year of 2020 shows up across the 170 Strathmore trucks in FMCSA roadside inspection records from September 2024 through August 2026. Roughly one in seven of those inspected trucks, 14 percent on FMCSA’s roadside records, carried a model year ten or more years back. Whatever the year of yours, give us the model year and VIN up front so we look up the right truck.
Of the 34 local carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median was 30,000 miles per truck. On that census, Strathmore carriers list 75 drivers who stay inside a hundred-mile radius and 290 who go further. A short-haul truck parked in town and a long-haul one parked off the highway are both trucks we come to; tell us where it is.
Porterville’s DMV office is 6.5 miles away
In California the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles handles titles through its DMV field offices, and the closest to Strathmore is the Porterville office at 329 E Olive Avenue, Porterville, 93257, about 6.5 miles from town. If your title is lost or still shows a lender, that office is where to sort out a duplicate or a lien release before we collect.
If the title is in a business name, bring the paperwork that shows you can sign for the business. Should the name on the registration differ from the title, mention it when you first contact us so it can be fixed at the Porterville counter rather than on pickup day.
