Two rail yards, north and east of campus
Woodland Yard lies 9.4 miles north of University of California-Davis, according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that shuttles boxcar or transload freight up to Woodland may well be parked on that side of the county when you call, so give us the street address of the lot rather than the campus address.
The same rail network places Yolo Port Yard 12.2 miles east, toward West Sacramento. If your day cab works the yard-to-dock run there, have the title and current California registration in one folder and photograph the cab, the frame and each axle in daylight before you contact us.
Gravel north-west along Cache Creek
Two sand and gravel operations appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration records for this corner of Yolo County: Woodland Plant at 11.8 miles north-west and Cache Creek Quarry at 14.7 miles in the same direction. Dump trucks and transfer rigs hauling aggregate out of those pits are the kind of equipment we buy from owners here.
A truck stationed at a quarry gate may sit behind a locked fence on weekends. Tell us who holds the key at the Woodland or Cache Creek site and which hours the gate is open, and keep any scale tickets or service logs with the truck so the history travels with it.
The port and the terminals east of town
Sacramento-Yolo Port is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics at 12.2 miles south-east of University of California-Davis. Container chassis tractors and flatbeds that load at the docks there can be collected from the port area itself; just name the gate and the contact on site.
Energy Information Administration records show a petroleum product terminal called WEST SACRAMENTO 12.9 miles east and one named SACRAMENTO CA at 13.3 miles. Owners of tank tractors or fuel delivery straight trucks that load at either rack should gather the registration, any hazmat inspection paperwork they hold and the VIN before reaching out to us.
Cattle, rice and wheat in Yolo County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 795 farms in Yolo County, with cattle, rice and wheat leading the list. Livestock haulers, grain trucks and bulk bottom-dump rigs that move those crops are often kept at the farm itself, and we pick up from the field edge or the barn as readily as from a paved lot.
For a farm truck, the title may be in the name of a ranch partnership or a family trust instead of one person. Check whose name is printed on it, and if the paper has gone missing, start a duplicate request with California’s title agency before we arrange collection.
Work and base
Jobs in town and Travis to the south-west
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts recorded 16,489 jobs located in University of California-Davis in 2023. Box trucks and straight trucks that make deliveries around campus buildings usually return to a depot in town at night, which is the easiest place for us to meet one.
Travis System Annex No 2, a military installation the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 17.2 miles south-west, is part of the working map here as well. If your truck now sits down toward Solano County, send its location with the photos and we plan the pickup around that spot.
CARB rules for a truck sold from Yolo County
The California Air Resources Board reports that the drayage, high priority and federal fleet requirements of its Advanced Clean Fleets regulation have been repealed. A federal court record from the Eastern District of California shows enforcement paused on the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
CARB’s own notice describes the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation as amended and still contested. None of these rules changes what we need from a Yolo County seller: the title, the registration and clear photos of the truck where it stands.
The questions we get asked in University of California-Davis
- Does a dump truck stationed at the Cache Creek pit have to be driven down to campus first?Cache Creek Quarry is 14.7 miles north-west of campus on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from the quarry yard. Name the person at the scale house who can let our driver past the fence.
- How does a Yolo County rice grower sell a grain truck whose title has gone missing? With 795 farms in Yolo County counted by USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, ranch-titled trucks are common here; request a duplicate from California’s title agency and send us the VIN while it is processed.
- Can you collect a tank tractor near the West Sacramento fuel terminal? The WEST SACRAMENTO terminal sits 12.9 miles east of campus in Energy Information Administration records, and we pick up trucks in that area; send the address and the registration.
