Freight, produce and meat on Westminster’s carrier rolls
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 468 active carriers based in Westminster, and 172 of them list general freight as a cargo. If your box truck or tractor has spent its working life on mixed freight around Orange County, have the title and current registration in hand before you call, along with the VIN.
Fresh produce is listed by 26 local carriers, refrigerated food by 25 and meat by 25, according to that same FMCSA census. For a reefer unit, send photos of the trailer interior and the reefer’s hour meter with the cab shots, and say whether the trailer is sold with the tractor or stays with you.
Of those Westminster carriers, 399 run intrastate, 68 run interstate and 72 are private fleets hauling their own goods, per FMCSA registrations. A private fleet selling one unit should bring a letter or board note showing who signs for the company, so the title transfer is not held up.
Terminals and yards around the city
The Energy Information Administration places the Huntington Beach petroleum product terminal 3.4 miles south of Westminster, and a second terminal at Orange 8.3 miles north-east. A tanker or fuel-delivery truck parked near either one can stay there; give us the site address and the name of whoever controls the gate.
Four miles west, the North American Rail Network shows the NWS Seal Beach rail yard, while Fullerton Yard lies 8.6 miles north-east. Trucks that shuttle freight off these yards are usually day cabs, so a clear shot of the fifth wheel and the door plate with its VIN tells us most of what we need.
Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach and the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base are listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics at 4 and 4.3 miles away. If your truck is kept on or near a base, check access rules first and tell us whether a pass or escort is needed for collection.
Port drayage
Long Beach container ramps, eleven miles west
Two Long Beach intermodal ramps, at Pier J and Pier G, sit 11.3 and 11.4 miles west on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list. A drayage tractor working those piers can be picked up at a Westminster driveway or a Long Beach lot, whichever is easier for you.
On California’s clean truck rules, the Air Resources Board’s drayage fleet requirements under Advanced Clean Fleets have been repealed, and enforcement of the 2036 zero-emission sales requirement is paused by federal court record. Photograph the truck’s emissions label and note the engine model year when you send the other pictures.
Orange County loops and out-of-state trips
The FMCSA census counts 302 drivers at Westminster carriers working within 100 miles and 876 working beyond that radius. If your truck is out on a long run, tell us where it will finish its trip and we can plan collection there rather than in Orange County.
Among the 67 local carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 27,985 miles per truck per year. Note the odometer reading when you first contact us and photograph the dash, so the figure on the paperwork and the figure on the gauge agree.
What Westminster fleets look like at inspection
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA, covering 191 trucks checked between August 2024 and August 2026, put the median model year for Westminster carriers at 2018, with 30.9 percent of those trucks ten or more years old. Whatever the year of yours, the title and the VIN plate are the two things to confirm match before we talk.
The three biggest fleets registered in the city run 57, 22 and 20 power units in FMCSA filings, and most of the rest are far smaller operations. An owner-operator selling a single truck and a fleet manager selling several follow the same steps: list each VIN, its title status and where each unit is parked.
New registrations add to that base each year: FMCSA recorded 11 new Westminster carriers in 2024 and 17 in 2025. If you started up recently and the truck is still financed, have your lender’s name and payoff contact ready when you call.
Contractors, wholesalers and Orange County ranches
Construction employs 1,017 people working in Westminster, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, and County Business Patterns lists 109 construction establishments. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from contractors here often sit on job yards, so tell us the yard address and the hours someone is on site.
LEHD figures for 2023 show 663 wholesale trade jobs and 555 manufacturing jobs in the city, alongside 278 in transportation and warehousing. A delivery truck owned by a wholesaler or plant rather than a carrier still needs the company’s name on the title and a signer with authority to release it.
In Orange County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 158 farms, with equine, honey and cut flowers among the leading products. A horse hauler or flower delivery truck kept on a ranch or nursery property can be collected right there; just send the address and a gate code if there is one.
The questions we get asked in Westminster
- Must a tanker kept by the Huntington Beach fuel terminal be driven up to Westminster first? The Energy Information Administration lists that terminal 3.4 miles south of the city, and we collect from where the truck sits. Tell us who controls the lot so the pickup is arranged with them.
- Will you pick up a drayage tractor that stays on the Pier J side in Long Beach? The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Pier J intermodal ramp 11.3 miles west of Westminster, and we can meet the truck at the port side or at your home address, whichever you choose.
- Where does an Orange County owner get a lost truck title replaced? For a Westminster truck, the duplicate comes from California’s state title agency. Start that request before the sale, and tell us it is underway so we can line up the rest of the paperwork.
