A tractor or box truck that shuttles loads to and from a rail siding that close to home is usually parked back in town or at a Lodi lot, so give us the street address and a name for whoever holds the keys.
Mormon Yard, a second rail yard on the North American Rail Network, lies 15.6 miles south toward Stockton. If your truck is kept down near that yard rather than in Woodbridge, it can be picked up there; send a pin for the spot and say whether a gate or a guard stands between the road and the truck.
Stockton’s port sits 13.5 miles south of Woodbridge in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. Day cabs that pull containers or flatbeds between the docks and Lodi-area warehouses fit what we purchase, and the first things we ask for are the VIN, a clear photo of the odometer and the name printed on the title.
Transload Solutions, a liquid bulk terminal 15.9 miles south, is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics alongside a second liquid bulk terminal at 15.5 miles in that direction. A tank truck or tractor that served those docks should come with whatever tank inspection sheets you still hold, kept in the cab or in a folder with the title.
Fuel north and south
Elk Grove, a petroleum product terminal 14.7 miles north, and Shell Stockton Terminal, 15.1 miles south, both appear on the Energy Information Administration’s terminal list. Woodbridge falls almost midway between the two, so a fuel tanker based here could be sitting at either end of that run when you decide to sell.
For a tanker, photograph the tank, the hose reels and the data plate along with all four sides of the tractor, then add the VIN. If the tank carries its own paperwork, such as test certificates, put copies with the title so both pieces of equipment are described together.
Aggregate to the east
The Knife River sand and gravel site
According to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, Concrete, Inc DBA Knife River runs a sand and gravel operation 15.6 miles east of Woodbridge. Dump trucks, transfer rigs and mixers that load at a pit like that one are within what we buy, and a trailer that goes with the tractor should be listed in the same message.
A truck left inside a pit or a contractor’s yard can stay put. Tell us the opening hours, who signs visitors in and whether there is room to load beside it, and the collection gets arranged around the site’s rules.
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 22 active carriers based in Woodbridge: 10 list general freight, 4 grain, feed and hay, 3 household goods and 2 beverages. Moving vans, box trucks, hay haulers and grain trailers all fit, and a seller with more than one unit can send the VINs together in a single list.
Of those 22, the federal census records 21 as intrastate operators and 2 as private fleets carrying their own goods. A private-fleet truck is often titled to the business, so the person who signs for the company needs to sign the title as well, with the company’s documents close at hand.
Fleets here are small; FMCSA registration shows the three biggest at 3 power units with 3 drivers, then 1 unit with 2 drivers and 1 unit with 1 driver. FMCSA’s carrier census also lists 8 drivers who stay within 100 miles of base and 16 who go beyond it, so tell us the town where the truck is parked this week.
Woodbridge held 629 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with manufacturing at 55 of them, an 8.7 percent share. County Business Patterns, another Census Bureau series, lists 7 construction establishments here; flatbeds, dump bodies and service trucks from that building trade are welcome alongside the freight haulers.
San Joaquin County has 3,439 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, where milk, cattle and corn head the list. A milk tanker, cattle pot or silage truck parked on a dairy or ranch can be collected from the farm; send directions to the gate and confirm that the name on the title is the seller’s.
Five Woodbridge carriers reported mileage to FMCSA, and their median comes to 12,000 miles per truck a year in the carrier census. Put the current odometer reading in your first message, with a photo of the dash, so the numbers you send line up with what we see.
Papers before pickup
If the title is lost, the state’s title agency issues the replacement, so begin that request early. Keep the current registration card with the truck, and if a lender is still listed on the title, have the lien release ready to show it has been cleared.
Service records, inspection reports and the bill of sale from when you bought the truck all help describe it. Photos of the four sides, the cab interior, the tires and the VIN plate cover most of what we need to see before arranging collection in Woodbridge or wherever the truck is parked.
