Gravel pits along the South Platte
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Amrize Platte Valley Plant, a sand and gravel operation 4.4 miles north-west of Brighton, and Riverbend Sand and Gravel 4.9 miles to the north. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that loads at either pit may well be parked at the pit itself when you sell it, so tell us whether we can reach it there and who holds the keys.
Construction accounts for 854 of the 18,272 jobs located in Brighton in 2023, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Brighton is home to 125 construction establishments in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns, many of them running their own dump and flatbed units. If your truck has worked on site jobs for one of those firms, have the title and current registration in hand, plus a few clear photos of the bed, cab and VIN plate.
Fuel docks, SAND CREEK and Irondale
South-west of town the Energy Information Administration places two petroleum product terminals, DENVER at 8.2 miles and DUPONT at 10.8 miles. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics adds the Sunco liquid bulk terminal at 13.9 miles. Tank-pulling tractors that load at these sites can be collected from a yard near the terminal; send the trailer’s paperwork separately if the tank is being sold too.
Rail traffic runs through the SAND CREEK yard, 13 miles south-west according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also lists the Denver, CO - Irondale intermodal ramp at 15.8 miles. Day cabs that shuttle containers to Irondale often sit in a drop yard between runs, so give us that yard’s address rather than your home address.
Freight, machinery, lumber and vehicles out of Brighton
Of the 1,037 active Brighton-based carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, general freight shows up on the cargo list of 527. Another 203 haul machinery and large objects, 117 carry logs, poles, beams or lumber, and 106 move motor vehicles, on the same federal census. Whatever the cargo, tell us the body type and the trailer setup so we know what to send for it.
On FMCSA’s carrier census, 855 of them operate intrastate only, 182 cross state lines and 472 haul their own goods as private carriers. A truck that never left Colorado still needs the same title and registration; an interstate unit should also come with its IRP cab card if you have it.
Drivers listed by Brighton carriers in FMCSA’s census number 2,447 working within 100 miles and 1,369 going beyond that. The median truck covers 16,667 miles a year across the 199 carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA. Tell us where the truck is garaged between trips and we will collect it there.
Owner-operators and hundred-truck outfits alike
The three biggest fleets based here run 122, 120 and 64 power units, on FMCSA’s carrier census, alongside hundreds of operators with a truck or two. We buy one truck or a whole row of them, so send the VIN list and where each unit is parked.
Brighton added 57 freshly registered carriers in 2024 and another 62 in 2025, per FMCSA’s carrier census. If you started up recently and are selling a truck that is still financed, tell us the lienholder at the start so the title release is part of the plan.
FMCSA roadside inspection records between September 2024 and August 2026 cover 356 trucks tied to Brighton carriers, with a median model year of 2020. Just under 36 percent of those 356 inspected Brighton trucks carried a model year ten or more years back, by the same FMCSA roadside records.
Whatever the model year, gather the inspection reports and service records you kept and send them with the photos. Add the odometer reading and engine make when you first contact us.
Farm and rules
Wheat, corn and cattle country, and the AQCC truck rules
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 877 farms in Adams County, with wheat, corn and cattle as the leading products. Grain trucks and cattle haulers often sit on the farm between harvests; tell us which gate to use and whether the truck is behind a field road.
Two Air Quality Control Commission measures, Advanced Clean Trucks and Heavy-Duty Low NOx, are in force in Colorado as Brighton owners register and sell trucks. Neither stops you selling a diesel tractor you already own, so bring the title and registration as usual.
