Foothill carriers
Private fleets on Evergreen hill roads
Of the 117 active Evergreen carriers on FMCSA’s census, 84 register as private fleets, hauling a business’s own materials up and down the foothills. If your truck belongs to a business like that, a landscaper, a builder or a supply yard, have the company’s registration and the title holder’s name ready, since the seller we deal with is whoever the title names.
Of those 117 carriers, the same federal census counts 109 as intrastate and just 8 as interstate. A tractor or straight truck that has stayed inside Colorado will carry Colorado plates and Colorado paperwork, so a Division of Motor Vehicles title and current registration are the two documents to find before you call.
Driver records filed with FMCSA show 196 drivers working within 100 miles of home and 88 going farther out. Tell us where the driver leaves the truck between jobs, a driveway in the hills or a yard down toward the metro, and that is the address we collect from.
Equipment, timber and trash runs
Machinery and large objects top the cargo list for local carriers, with 35 of them registered to haul it according to FMCSA’s census. Lowboys, rollbacks and equipment trailers built for that work are trucks we purchase; send photos of the deck, the ramps and the tie-down points along with the cab.
General freight follows at 26 carriers, and logs, poles, beams and lumber and garbage and refuse each count 15, in FMCSA’s carrier census. A log truck or a roll-off truck usually spends its days near the job, so tell us the site address and whether a tow rig can reach it on a grade.
For the 15 carriers that report annual mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 10,000 miles a truck. Write down the odometer reading and the VIN when you first reach out, and send them with a set of photos of the cab and chassis.
Evergreen model years at federal inspection stops
Federal roadside inspection records from August 2024 to August 2026 cover 32 trucks tied to Evergreen carriers, and their median model year is 2020. If yours is one of them, the inspection report itself is a useful record to keep with the title.
Among those 32 inspected Evergreen trucks, FMCSA’s roadside records put 18.75 percent at ten model years or older. Whatever year your truck is, list the engine make and the emissions equipment it carries. Colorado’s Air Quality Control Commission has both its Advanced Clean Trucks Rule and its Heavy-Duty Low NOx Rule in force for heavy trucks in the state.
Aggregate sites east and north of town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Amrize Morrison Quarry, a crushed-stone operation 7.7 miles east, and Spec Agg Quarry 8.6 miles to the north-east. A dump truck or end-dump trailer that hauls from those pits can be sold from the quarry lot itself; give us the gate contact and the hours the site is open.
North-west of Evergreen, Pit 21-Young Ranch sits 10.3 miles out and YRR 14.2 miles out, both sand and gravel operations on MSHA’s register, with the Church Harvey Mine, an industrial-mineral site, 18.6 miles north. Keep any site safety or inspection paperwork the truck picked up working there together with the title.
Autoramp, North yard and foothill jobs
Big Lift Autoramp is a rail yard 19.5 miles east and North yard sits 20.7 miles north-east, on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your tractor drayed to either one and is parked down in the metro now, tell us that address rather than your home in the hills.
Construction accounts for 264 of the 3,021 jobs located in Evergreen, 8.7 percent, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, with wholesale trade at 129. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau show 121 construction establishments, so a contractor retiring a dump body or flatbed should bring the business name that appears on the registration.
Cattle, nursery and horse hauling
Jefferson County’s 531 farms lean toward cattle, potted flowering plants and equine operations, per USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A stock truck, a flatbed hauling hay or a box truck from a nursery is a commercial truck we will look at.
Farm-plated trucks in the county still need a Colorado title in the seller’s name. If that title is lost, the Division of Motor Vehicles issues a duplicate, and having it in hand before collection keeps the sale simple.
The questions we get asked in Evergreen
- Can you collect my end-dump from the Morrison quarry lot instead of my Evergreen address?Amrize Morrison Quarry is 7.7 miles east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from the lot where the truck sits. Give us the quarry office’s contact and its gate hours, and the collection gets set up with them directly.
- My Evergreen truck has never left Colorado; is an in-state history a problem? Most Evergreen carriers are like yours: FMCSA’s census counts 109 intrastate operators against 8 interstate ones here. A Colorado title and registration are all the paperwork the sale needs.
- Where does a Jefferson County owner replace a missing log-truck title?Colorado titles come from the state’s Division of Motor Vehicles, which handles duplicates for Jefferson County owners. Request the replacement and tell us when you start, so we can plan around it.
