Two gravel operations
Sand and gravel pits off the Gunbarrel side of the county
Nelson Mining Resource, which the Mine Safety and Health Administration files as a sand and gravel operation, digs 6.9 miles east of Gunbarrel. A tandem dump or end-dump that has been loading at that pit can be sold from the yard where it sits; give us the pit gate or lot address and the name of whoever holds the keys.
Further out, Amrize Distel Plant is another sand and gravel site, 9.3 miles to the north-east on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. If your truck splits its loads between Distel and Nelson, have the title in your name, the current Colorado registration and a handful of clear photos of the bed, hoist and cab before you call.
Lyons cement, Meadow Hollow stone and the mine to the south
Up toward Lyons, the Lyons Cement Plant sits 10.8 miles north-west of town, as listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Bulk pneumatic tankers and ready-mix trucks that load cement there are on our list; send the VIN, a photo of the drum or tank and any service records you have kept.
Meadow Hollow Quarry, a dimension-stone quarry, lies 16.9 miles north, and CHURCH HARVEY MINE, an industrial-mineral mine, lies 12.2 miles south; both figures come from Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. Flatbeds that carry cut stone and trucks that haul from the mine can stay parked at the site while we arrange collection with the operator.
The Longmont rail yard north-east of Gunbarrel
Eight miles north-east of the Gunbarrel business park, the LONGMONT rail yard appears in the North American Rail Network that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics maintain. Day cabs that shuttle freight between that yard and Boulder County shippers are trucks we purchase, whether they are tagged to a company or to one owner-operator.
If your tractor is parked near the Longmont yard rather than at home, tell us the street and who can let us in. Bring together the title, the registration card and the most recent annual inspection report so the paperwork is in one place when we come for the truck.
Denver’s fuel terminals and the trucks that run to them
South-east of town, the Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal at DENVER, 20.1 miles away. Fuel tankers and the tractors that pull them out of that terminal can be sold from wherever they are based; tell us the trailer’s spec plate details along with the tractor’s VIN.
At the same distance, 20.1 miles, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records a liquid bulk terminal. Should your truck have hauled liquid bulk out of that site, keep the tank inspection paperwork with the title, since it answers questions before we have to ask them.
Who employs people in Gunbarrel
Workplaces inside Gunbarrel held 1,138 jobs in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES). Manufacturing accounts for 83 of them, a 7.3 percent share, and wholesale trade for 76, or 6.7 percent, by the same LEHD source.
Box trucks and straight trucks that make deliveries for manufacturers and wholesalers around Gunbarrel are part of what we buy. Photograph the box interior, the liftgate if it has one, and the odometer, and keep the registration handy for the call.
Corn, cattle and horses, plus the state’s clean-truck regulations
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 826 farms in Boulder County, with corn, cattle and equine at the top of the list. Grain trucks, livestock haulers and the tractors that pull horse and cattle trailers on those farms can be collected right from the ranch or field gate.
Colorado’s Advanced Clean Trucks Rule and its Heavy-Duty Low NOx Rule, both part of the Colorado Clean Cars and Trucks Regulation, are in force according to the Colorado Secretary of State’s code of regulations. Selling a truck you already own is not held up by either rule; tell us the engine make and model year so the description matches the truck.
The questions we get asked in Gunbarrel
- My tandem dump is parked at the Nelson pit east of Gunbarrel. Can you pick it up at the pit itself?Nelson Mining Resource is 6.9 miles east on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings, and we collect the truck at the pit. Tell us which Nelson gate it sits behind and who on site will unlock it for the driver.
- Do you buy cement mixers that load at the Lyons plant? The Lyons Cement Plant sits 10.8 miles north-west according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and mixers and bulk tankers serving it are trucks we purchase. Send the VIN and photos of the drum and cab.
- What do I need ready before I call about a farm truck in Boulder County?Boulder County’s 826 farms, counted in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, run a lot of grain and livestock trucks, and for any of them we need the title in your name, the registration and photos of the truck. Any grease-and-oil log from the ranch shop is welcome too.
