General freight, car haulers and coil trailers
Of the 772 active carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census for Alafaya, 501 list general freight as cargo and 152 list motor vehicles. If yours is a dry van tractor or a car-hauler rig from one of those outfits, send the VIN, the title holder’s name and a few photos of the cab, the deck or trailer coupling, and the tires.
Steel moves out of here too: 69 carriers in the federal census list metal sheets, coils and rolls, and another 66 are registered for driveaway and towaway work. Flatbed tractors with coil racks and toter trucks both fit what we buy, so tell us which setup yours carries and whether the trailer goes with it.
Mostly in-state work around Orange County
Intrastate operations account for 628 Alafaya carriers in FMCSA’s registration census, against 143 that cross state lines and 130 private fleets hauling their own goods. For an in-state truck, have the Florida registration and the title together before we talk.
Among the 143 interstate carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 46,756 miles per truck in a year. Write down the odometer reading when you first contact us; with that number and the VIN we can line up the collection.
Registrations keep coming: the carrier census shows 62 new carriers in Alafaya during 2025 and 47 during 2024. Owners who started up in either of those years should keep the purchase papers and any lien release next to the title, since a lender on the title has to sign off before ownership changes hands.
Median 2014: the inspected Alafaya fleet
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA covered 279 trucks tied to Alafaya carriers between September 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2014. Those FMCSA roadside records also show 58.8 percent of the trucks were ten or more model years old.
Whatever the model year on yours, the steps stay the same. Photograph the data plate, the dash with the engine on, and all four sides, and keep any inspection or service records in one folder so you can hand them over at pickup.
Fleet sizes stay small here according to the federal carrier census: the three biggest Alafaya fleets run 14, 12 and 10 power units. If you are selling more than one tractor from a small operation, list each VIN separately and note where each unit is parked.
Rail yards, terminals and a quarry to the east
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Orlando yard 11.9 miles west of Alafaya and a second yard, listed as West, 12.2 miles south-west. A day cab that shuttles containers or freight between those yards can be collected where it sits, so give us the street address and the name of whoever controls the lot gate.
Tank work runs west and north of town. Per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Heniff liquid bulk terminal lies 12.8 miles west and Transflo CSXT 20.4 miles north, while the Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal at Orlando 13.4 miles south-west. If your tractor pulled tankers to those sites, mention which ones and keep any terminal access paperwork with the title.
East of Alafaya, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a crushed-stone quarry 10.9 miles out. Dump trucks and aggregate haulers working that pit can stay parked at the yard; tell us the location and a contact who can let us in.
Manufacturing, construction and nursery growers
Census Bureau LEHD job counts for 2023 put 3,639 of Alafaya’s 20,204 jobs in manufacturing, or 18 percent, with 570 in construction, 292 in wholesale trade and 206 in transportation and warehousing. Box trucks and straight trucks serving plants and suppliers are welcome; have the registration in the name shown on the title.
Alafaya counts 274 construction establishments on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns rolls. A contractor selling a dump truck, flatbed or service body should gather the title, the current registration and photos of the body and any lift or hoist.
Out across Orange County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 600 farms, with foliage plants, propagative material and potted flowering plants at the top of the list. Nursery growers selling a refrigerated straight truck or a stake bed can reach us with the VIN and the farm address where the truck is kept.
Titles and records for a Florida truck
Florida’s title agency issues the title we need signed over at collection. If the original is missing, ask the state title office for a duplicate before the pickup date and tell us when you have applied.
Along with the title, set aside the registration, any lien release, and the inspection reports from roadside stops if you have them. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists two military installations 3.9 and 4.1 miles north of town; if your truck is parked on one, arrange access with the base before our visit.
The questions we get asked in Alafaya
- My tractor sits near the Heniff terminal west of Alafaya - does it have to come into town first? It can stay put: the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places that liquid bulk terminal 12.8 miles west of town, and we collect from there. Give us the lot address and the person who can open the gate.
- Will you take a flatbed tractor that hauls steel coils out of Alafaya? We do, and that work is common here: FMCSA’s carrier census lists 69 Alafaya carriers hauling metal sheets, coils and rolls, and flatbed tractors from that work are part of what we purchase. Send the VIN and photos of the deck and coupling.
- Do you buy dump trucks from the quarry east of town?We buy them there; the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a crushed-stone quarry 10.9 miles east, and we can pick up a dump truck where it is parked out there. Tell us the location and who holds the title.
