Mine haulage
Caloosa Materials, just under ten miles west
West of Balm by 9.9 miles, Caloosa Materials appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as an industrial-mineral operation. Dump trucks, end-dumps and tractors pulling aggregate trailers are the equipment a pit like that keeps moving, and any of them can be sold from the spot where it sits today.
If your dump truck is still parked at or near the Caloosa site, tell us who controls the gate there and when someone can let a driver in. Photos of the body, the cab and the VIN plate, taken where the truck stands, let us arrange the collection without a second visit.
Hooker’s Point boxes and Tampa Port Authority docks
Eleven miles north of Balm, per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is the Tampa Port Authority, and the same federal agency places Hooker’s Point Container Terminal, a rail intermodal ramp, 14.2 miles to the north-west. Day cabs that shuttle boxes between those docks and inland warehouses come home to yards across this corner of the county.
A tractor that runs port drayage often carries a terminal access record and a stack of gate tickets in the cab. Keep the title and current Florida registration alongside those papers, and photograph each one for us before the collection date in Balm is set.
Fuel and liquid terminals on the north-west side
Two petroleum product terminals, both named TAMPA, sit 12.8 and 13.1 miles north-west of Balm on Energy Information Administration listings. At 12.8 miles in that same direction, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records the Kinder Morgan liquid bulk terminal.
Tank-trailer tractors loading at those racks are among the trucks we buy here. Have the tractor’s service log and any tank inspection certificates ready to share, and tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale or stays behind; we plan the pickup rig around that answer.
Freight from the EAST TAMPA and PORT SUTTON rail sidings
On the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration together with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the EAST TAMPA yard lies 10.2 miles north-west of Balm and the PORT SUTTON yard 12.9 miles out on that same bearing. Short-haul tractors and straight trucks move freight to and from both.
When a truck that worked those yards is now idle on a lot here in Balm or elsewhere in the county, give us the street address and say whether a lowboy or tow rig can reach it. Its location is all we need; the truck does not have to come to us.
Cattle, transplants and aquatic plants
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,992 farms in Hillsborough County, with aquatic plants, cattle and transplants leading the county’s agricultural sales. Livestock haulers, flatbeds carrying nursery stock and box trucks moving plants out of greenhouses all belong to that work around Balm.
A farm truck may have spent years titled to a family member or to the farm itself. Check whose name is on the Florida title before you call; if it has gone missing, Florida’s title agency can issue a duplicate to the owner of record, and we can wait while that is sorted out.
The questions we get asked in Balm
- Our aggregate dump truck sits near Caloosa Materials. Must somebody drag it back to a Balm yard before you collect?Caloosa Materials, the mine the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 9.9 miles west of Balm, is the kind of site we collect from directly. It can stay put; just name the person holding the Caloosa gate key.
- Is a Port of Tampa drayage day cab something you take on?Port drayage tractors working the Tampa Port Authority docks, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 11.2 miles north of Balm, are trucks we purchase. Send the VIN, the title and photos of the cab and frame to start.
- Our Hillsborough farm truck’s title has gone missing; how do we sell it?Among the 1,992 Hillsborough County farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, plenty of trucks change hands within families. The owner shown on record can request a duplicate from Florida’s title agency, and we can begin with the VIN and photos meanwhile.
