Port and terminals
Tampa Port Authority and the fuel terminals to the west
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Tampa Port Authority 3.6 miles south-west of Brandon, which puts dock work within a short drive of most driveways in town. If your tractor has pulled loads to and from the port, tell us which gate it used and where it is parked today, so pickup can be planned around that lot rather than a guess.
Two petroleum product terminals named TAMPA appear in Energy Information Administration listings, one 6 miles and one 7.5 miles west of Brandon. Tank tractors working those racks often sit in a yard between shifts; give us the yard address and the name of whoever holds the key, and keep the registration in the cab for collection.
Further along the same corridor, a Kinder Morgan liquid bulk terminal at 7.3 miles and Transflo CSXT at 7.7 miles show up in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. A truck that served either one can be sold from wherever it is now; send photos of the cab, frame, fifth wheel and tires along with the VIN.
Yeoman, Uceta and the Tampa intermodal ramp
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the YEOMAN yard 5.3 miles west of Brandon and the UCETA yard 5.6 miles out in the same direction. Day cabs that shuttle between those yards and local customers can be collected right where they are staged, as long as someone can let us onto the property.
Between those two yards, a rail intermodal ramp listed as Tampa, FL sits 5.4 miles west according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck has spent its time pulling containers off that ramp, have the title and the most recent service records together before you reach out; those two papers answer most of what we ask.
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 652 active carriers based in Brandon. The same census splits them into 474 intrastate-only and 178 interstate operations, with 107 private fleets hauling their own goods. Whichever group you belong to, the paperwork we need is the same: a clear title in the name of the seller, current registration and the VIN.
General freight is the cargo listed by 434 of those carriers in the federal census, with 87 hauling motor vehicles, 73 moving metal sheets, coils and rolls, and 60 carrying machinery and large objects. Car haulers, flatbeds and heavy-haul tractors all fit what we purchase; tell us the body or trailer setup when you first write so the questions match your rig.
New registrations in FMCSA’s carrier census reached 71 in 2024 and 73 in 2025 for Brandon. Owner-operators who started recently and are now moving on can sell the truck just as an established fleet would; keep your operating authority paperwork handy so the trail from purchase to sale is complete.
Fleet size, distance and model years
One fleet registered here reports 612 power units and 612 drivers in FMCSA’s carrier census, while the next two list 17 and 12 power units. A single truck from a one-unit outfit and several units from a larger operation are handled the same way, one VIN at a time, with photos for each.
Per FMCSA records, 833 drivers at Brandon carriers work within 100 miles and 1,437 work beyond that radius. The median truck at the 150 carriers that reported mileage logged 35,114 miles, a figure from the same carrier census. If your truck is out on a long run when you decide to sell, tell us where it will finish and we can plan around that location.
FMCSA roadside inspection records for 239 trucks inspected between September 2024 and August 2026 show a median model year of 2015, and 54.8 percent of them were ten or more model years old. Put the model year, make and VIN from your title in the first message.
Building sites and wholesale docks east of Tampa
Construction accounts for 6,042 of the 55,205 jobs in the area, or 10.9 percent, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023. Those workers are spread over 191 construction establishments counted in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from building sites are on our list; tell us which job site the truck is parked on and who manages the gate.
Wholesale trade holds 2,180 jobs and transportation and warehousing 1,649 in the same LEHD figures, with manufacturing at 744. Box trucks and tractors that serve distribution work around Brandon can be picked up at the dock where they sit, so give us the address and loading hours.
Aquatic plants, cattle and transplants
Hillsborough County had 1,992 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with aquatic plants, cattle and transplants leading the list. Livestock haulers and nursery delivery trucks from those operations qualify, and we collect them on the farm itself.
Have every owner named on the title ready to sign it, and leave the truck somewhere a tow rig can reach it. A lost title is replaced through Florida’s state title agency, so request the duplicate before pickup is booked.
