Orlando’s fuel terminal and the Taft and West yards
Fuel trucks out of Doctor Phillips load at the ORLANDO products terminal, which the Energy Information Administration sets 7.4 miles to the east. A tractor or straight truck that has loaded at that rack is one we collect from a driveway, a shop or a terminal lot, so tell us which of those it sits in and who holds the key.
Head east from Doctor Phillips and the North American Rail Network, maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the TAFT yard at 7.7 miles with WEST just beyond at 8. If your day cab shuttled loads between those yards and local docks, send the VIN, the registration and a photo of the data plate together in your first message.
Heniff, a liquid bulk terminal 9.4 miles to the north-east, is on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list for the Orlando area. Tankers and the tractors that pull them from that site are trucks we buy; have the title in hand and note whether the tank stays with the tractor or goes separately.
Dump work at the western sand pits
West of Doctor Phillips, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Four Corners Sand Mine at 11.9 miles and Center Sand Company at 12.6 miles. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that haul from those pits can be picked up at the pit gate or a yard nearby; give us the address and a person on site who can let the driver in.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 32 construction establishments here, and the LEHD job counts put construction at 168 jobs in 2023. If your mixer, dump body or flatbed worked job sites around Orange County, photos of the body, the cab and the odometer let us see the whole truck before anyone travels to it.
Cargo on Doctor Phillips authorities
General freight is the cargo listed by 48 of the community’s carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, with 17 carrying passengers, 15 hauling motor vehicles and 5 moving refrigerated food. Box trucks, car haulers, shuttle buses and reefer units all fit what we purchase, so name the cargo your vehicle carried when you write to us.
Of those 87 carriers, FMCSA’s registrations show 35 running interstate and 52 staying intrastate, while 25 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A private-fleet truck sold out of a business needs the titled owner’s signature, so line up whoever at the company signs for its vehicles before pickup is booked.
New entrants keep arriving: FMCSA’s census records 13 carriers registering in 2024 and 10 in 2025. If you started a one-truck authority in either year and are now parking the tractor, your USDOT number and the title are the two things to have on the table.
Small fleets, two driver pools, yearly mileage
The three biggest fleets based here run 10, 7 and 7 power units, according to FMCSA’s carrier census, with 10, 19 and 7 drivers. We buy one truck or several from an operation that size, so list each unit by VIN and say where each one is parked.
FMCSA’s census counts 128 drivers working within 100 miles and 113 going beyond it. A long-haul tractor may be parked out of state when you decide to sell, and we can collect it there; send the city and the yard name rather than bringing it home to Orange County.
A Doctor Phillips truck logs a median 14,643 miles a year, going by the 16 local carriers whose mileage FMCSA’s carrier census holds. Write the current odometer reading down along with your service records, since that figure and the VIN are the first things we ask about.
Forty-eight trucks stopped at roadside
FMCSA roadside inspection records from 2024-12-12 to 2026-08-21 cover 48 trucks from carriers based here, with a median model year of 2020. Whatever model year yours is, the title, the registration and clear photos are what start the conversation.
Among those same 48 inspected trucks, 18.75 percent were ten or more model years old, by FMCSA’s roadside inspection count. Older and newer units are both on our list; if a recent inspection report is in your glovebox, send it along with the photos.
Jobs, nurseries and military sites nearby
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts show 9,118 jobs here in 2023, with 298 in wholesale trade and 173 in transportation and warehousing. Delivery trucks working those wholesale routes can be collected from a loading dock, so tell us the dock hours that suit the business.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 600 farms in Orange County, led by foliage plants, propagative material and potted flowering plants. Reefer box trucks and straight trucks that carry nursery stock are trucks we buy; a greenhouse lot is a fine place for us to meet the truck.
Two military installations sit north-east and east of town on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list: NG Orlando Naval Training Center at 9.2 miles and Naval Logistics Support Annex Orlando at 20.3 miles. If you hauled to either site and have since been reassigned, leave the truck where it is and send us the address and a contact.
The questions we get asked in Doctor Phillips
- Our dump truck stays at Four Corners Sand Mine between loads; is collection possible at the pit itself?Four Corners Sand Mine is 11.9 miles west on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect at a pit gate like that one. Send the site address and the name of whoever can open it.
- My company owns the truck as a private fleet. What paperwork does it need?Private fleets make up 25 of the 87 carriers here in FMCSA’s carrier census, and each sale needs the title signed by the business that owns it. Have the registration and the USDOT number ready as well.
- My tractor sits in a lot by the Taft rail yard. Can it stay in that lot for pickup instead of coming home to Doctor Phillips? The North American Rail Network puts TAFT 7.7 miles east of town, and we pick up from yards and lots in that stretch. Tell us the lot, the owner of the lot and when the gate is open.
