Installation gates
Collecting a truck near Moreno Point and Okaloosa Island
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places two military installations close to Eglin AFB: Destin Moreno Point, 4.6 miles to the south-east, and Eglin AFB Site 4 on Okaloosa Island, 4.7 miles due south. If your truck is parked behind a gate at either one, tell us before pickup so the driver arrives with whatever pass or escort the gate asks for.
A truck kept off the installation, in a driveway or a yard in town, is just as easy for us to reach. Send the street address, say whether a tow truck can turn around beside it, and attach photos of each side of the cab and the plate.
Product racks east
Tank tractors loading across the water at Niceville
Across from the base at Niceville, 5.5 miles north-east, the Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal. Owners of a tank truck or a tractor that loaded there should have the VIN, the tank’s plate and its latest test records together before calling us.
Farther east, a liquid bulk terminal run under the Murphy Oil name appears on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list 24.6 miles out, and Freeport’s petroleum product terminal sits 24.7 miles east on the Energy Information Administration’s roll. A tractor that shuttled between those two stops and Niceville is a truck we purchase; tell us which loading racks it served.
End-dumps hauling out of the northern and western sand pits
G2C Sand Mine, an industrial-mineral mine, lies 16.8 miles north of Eglin AFB in records kept by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists River Road Pit, a sand and gravel operation 19.1 miles west, and Mosseyhead Mines, working sand and gravel 24.3 miles to the north-east.
A dump truck or end-dump tractor parked at one of those pits can be collected right where it stands. Give us the pit’s gate location, the body length and the axle count, and photograph the bed, the hoist and the door plate so we know what we are loading.
Replacing a lost Florida title two miles from the gate
Florida titles are issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and its offices are county tax collector service centers and license plate agents. Closest to the Eglin AFB gate, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ locator shows its Shalimar counter, the Okaloosa County motor vehicle service center, at 1250 N. Eglin Parkway, Suite #101, Shalimar, 32579, about 2 miles from town on the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ office locator.
If the title has gone missing, start the duplicate at that Shalimar counter before you call us, and bring the registration and your ID. A lien still on the truck needs its release from the lender, so ask the lender for that letter at the same time.
Town payroll, county pastures
Local jobs, cotton and cattle around Eglin AFB
Eglin AFB counted 389 jobs inside its own boundary in 2023, a tally drawn from the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES). Box trucks, flatbeds and service bodies that carried that work around town belong in the same call as any heavy tractor; list the body type and the GVWR when you write in.
Okaloosa County holds 444 farms, and cotton, cattle and equine operations lead its output according to USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Livestock haulers, cotton trucks and tractors that pull horse trailers from those farms are on our list, and we pick them up from the barn or pasture where they are kept.
