Sixty-nine carriers on Fleming Island
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 69 active carriers based on Fleming Island, and 36 of them list general freight. If your tractor or box truck has been doing that kind of mixed work, the registration and title in your name are the two papers to find before you call.
Seventeen Fleming Island carriers in the FMCSA census haul machinery and large objects, 14 carry logs, poles, beams and lumber, and 9 move motor vehicles. Lowboys, log trucks and car haulers from those outfits are all trucks we collect; send a photo of the trailer coupling and the deck along with the cab so we know the full setup.
Of those 69 carriers, the federal census counts 48 as intrastate only, 21 as interstate and 17 as private fleets hauling their own goods. A Florida-only truck usually stays parked close to home, which keeps collection simple: give us the street address and whether a gate needs opening.
Clay County outfits
One mid-size fleet and many single trucks
The biggest fleet registered here runs 22 power units with 78 drivers, according to FMCSA records, and the next two run 6 and 3 trucks. If you manage several units, list each VIN on one message and we will work through them together rather than truck by truck.
Seven new carriers registered in Fleming Island during 2025, against 3 in 2024, per the FMCSA carrier census. A recently started owner-operator selling a first truck should have the lien release ready if the truck was financed, since the title has to come to us clear.
Short hops, long hauls and the odometer
Carriers here report 120 drivers working within 100 miles and 78 going beyond that, in FMCSA’s census filings. A truck on the longer routes may be parked out of town when you decide to sell; tell us where it sits now and we arrange the pickup there.
A dozen carriers on the island filed annual mileage with FMCSA, putting the typical truck at a median 45,100 miles over a year. Write the current odometer reading down next to the VIN before you contact us; we ask for those two first.
Fifty-two inspected Fleming Island rigs
Between late August 2024 and late August 2026, inspectors stopped 52 trucks belonging to island carriers, and FMCSA roadside inspection records give them a 2019 median model year. Have the model year and engine details on hand when you reach out so we can match the truck to its paperwork.
Just over a quarter of that group, 26.9% in the FMCSA roadside inspection records, carried a model year ten or more years back. Whatever year your truck is, send any service records or past inspection reports you kept along with the photos.
Seven to seventeen miles north
Rail yards, the port and two bases
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Fowden Intermodal Terminal 12.4 miles north-east of Fleming Island, and the North American Rail Network shows the Bowden rail yard at 11.8 miles and West Jacksonville yard at 15.9 miles. Day cabs pulling containers off those yards can be collected from wherever they are parked between runs.
Further north, the port of Jacksonville lies 16.7 miles away on Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, near the Transflo CSXT liquid bulk terminal at 15.7 miles. The Energy Information Administration lists the Jacksonville South petroleum product terminal at 16.1 miles, so a tank truck kept near those sites does not need to be driven home first.
NAS Jacksonville stands 8.5 miles north, and the DLA disposal site 6.9 miles north, in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. If your truck sits on or near a base lot, tell us who controls access so the collection can be cleared ahead of time.
Builders, nurseries and cattle ground
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 8,844 jobs in Fleming Island for 2023, with 290 in construction and 115 in wholesale trade. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau lists 64 construction establishments, and dump trucks or flatbeds from that trade are part of what we collect.
Across Clay County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 326 farms, led by cattle, propagative material such as nursery stock, and horses. A livestock hauler or nursery truck parked on farm ground can stay there; give us directions to the barn or field gate.
