Quarries and kilns
Stone and cement within a dozen miles
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Calcium Plant, a crushed-stone quarry, 8.7 miles south-west of Floral City, with the Brooksville Quarry 11.8 miles out on the same bearing. A dump truck or tractor that has spent its shifts on those benches can stay parked at the yard it works from; give us the gate contact and the hours someone can let us in.
Two cement operations appear in federal mine records close by: Brooksville South Cement Plant at 10.9 miles south-west, and Sumterville Cement Plant 15.8 miles east, both listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. If your mixer or bulk tanker has run between those plants and job sites, photograph the drum or tank, the chassis plate and the cab, and keep the VIN handy for the first call.
Industrial-mineral mines north and south
North of town, Manko Co Sec 5 Mine/Phos is recorded at 17.4 miles as an industrial-mineral mine, and County Line Mine sits 24.7 miles south-west, according to Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. An off-highway hauler or end dump based at either site is collected where it stands, so tell us whether a lowboy can reach it on the access road.
Trucks that worked a mine lease often carry site permits or a maintenance log kept by the operator. Put whatever you have of those beside the Florida title and send them together with the photos.
Forty-six carriers, almost all in-state
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 46 active carriers based in Floral City; 44 of them operate intrastate, only 2 cross state lines, and 22 are private fleets moving their own goods. For a seller that usually means the truck is kept at a home yard or a job site in Citrus County rather than at a terminal out of state.
Fleets here are small: under the same federal census, the three biggest by power units run five, four and four trucks. An owner-operator or a two-truck outfit can sell one unit and keep the other working, so name which VIN is for sale and leave the rest of the roster out of it.
Drivers registered to Floral City carriers number 45 working within a 100-mile radius and 23 going beyond it, per FMCSA. Among the six local carriers that reported mileage in FMCSA’s carrier census, the median was 10,001 miles per truck; read your own odometer and include it with the photos.
Freight, timber, equipment and refuse
General freight is listed by 20 local carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, logs, poles, beams and lumber by 9, and machinery and large objects by another 9. Box trucks, log trailers with their tractors, and lowboys or tilt decks all fall within what we purchase, along with the paperwork that came with the trailer.
Six Floral City carriers tell FMCSA they haul garbage, refuse and trash. A roll-off, rear loader or side loader can be sold from the transfer yard or the lot where it is kept, as long as we have the address and the name of whoever controls access.
Pasture and job site
Farms, ranches and building trades
Citrus County holds 602 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, horses and goats leading the list. A livestock hauler, a flatbed that moves hay or a stake truck used around a pasture can be photographed where it sits on the property; include the bed or the trailer in at least one shot.
Of the 271 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in Floral City for 2023, 61, or 22.5 percent, fall in agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 20 construction establishments here too, so dump bodies, crane trucks and utility service bodies show up in local driveways as often as tractors do.
Wildwood rail yard and recent registrations
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the nearest yard to Floral City is Wildwood, 19.6 miles north-east. A tractor that shuttled loads to and from that yard can be picked up in Wildwood or back home in Citrus County, whichever suits you.
New carrier registrations in town were 5 in 2024 and 2 in 2025, going by FMCSA’s carrier census. If your authority is recent and the truck is titled in a business name, have the registration and the company document showing who can sign for it ready before we schedule the pickup.
The questions we get asked in Floral City
- Our end dump stays at the Brooksville Quarry between loads; will you pick it up from that site rather than from Floral City? The Brooksville Quarry is 11.8 miles south-west of Floral City in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect the truck there. Ask the quarry office who opens the gate for an outside lowboy and pass that name along.
- We keep four tractors on Florida-only work out of Floral City; is selling a single one of them possible? Most of the 46 Floral City carriers in FMCSA’s census, 44 of them, stay inside Florida and run small fleets like yours. Send the VIN and title for the one unit you are selling and keep the others on the road.
- The truck hauls cattle and hay on our Citrus County ranch. Would a ranch hauler like that suit you?Cattle top the list for Citrus County’s 602 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and ranch trucks and livestock haulers are among what we purchase. Photograph it where it is parked on the property and include the title in your message.
