Sand and silica
Pits on both sides of town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Haines City Mine, a sand and gravel operation 3.4 miles south-east, and a second one called SILICA PLANT 5.3 miles to the north. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that shuttle between those pits can be picked up at the pit gate itself; give us the name of whoever runs the gate so the visit is cleared before we arrive.
Further out, Mineral Grow appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as an industrial-mineral mine 23.8 miles south-west. A truck kept at a mine site should still come with its title and current registration in the cab or with you, and a few photos taken in daylight beside the loading area help us see the whole unit before the visit.
Rail lots west toward Auburndale and Winter Haven
Two rail yards on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, lie west of Haines City: AUBURNDALE at 11.5 miles and CENTRAL FLORIDA ILC at 12.7 miles south-west. Day cabs that dray boxes off those yards are often kept in a nearby lot, and that lot’s street address is all we need to plan the collection.
At 12.8 miles south-west, the Winter Haven intermodal ramp is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a rail intermodal ramp. If your tractor pulled containers from the CFILC, send the VIN, an odometer photo and a picture of the fifth wheel, and we can start on the details straight from those.
A liquid bulk terminal 23.2 miles west is also on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list. Tank tractors that ran between that terminal and the Polk County yards are trucks we purchase; keep the service records together so the tractor’s history travels with it.
Car haulers, reefers and dry vans based here
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 634 active carriers based in Haines City, with 445 hauling general freight, 109 moving motor vehicles, 69 carrying fresh produce and 59 handling refrigerated food. Car haulers, reefers and dry vans from any of those groups can be sold to us from the yard or driveway where they stay.
Of those 634 carriers in the FMCSA census, 443 run intrastate only, 190 cross state lines and 105 are private fleets hauling their own goods. An intrastate truck that never left Florida still needs its Florida title in the seller’s name, so check the name on it against the name on your registration before we talk.
New registrations in Haines City reached 76 carriers in 2025, up from 52 in 2024, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. If you started out in the past two years and are now parting with a truck, a short history from your own records of what it hauled is enough for us to go on.
Drivers, miles and fleet sizes
In FMCSA’s census, Haines City carriers report 494 drivers working within 100 miles and 663 beyond that radius. Among 122 carriers that filed mileage with FMCSA, the median comes to 46,066 miles per truck a year. Tell us where your truck is sitting today, whether that is at home in Polk County or out of state, and we arrange to collect it there.
The three biggest fleets on FMCSA’s books here run 37 power units with 35 drivers, 26 power units with 6 drivers, and 15 power units with 6 drivers. Sizes like those mean an owner may be letting several tractors go at once; list each VIN and where each one is parked, and we work through them together.
Haines City trucks at Florida inspection stops
Between 28 August 2024 and 27 August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records cover 220 trucks tied to Haines City, with a median model year of 2016. Your truck’s model year goes on the first line of what you send us, followed by the make and the VIN.
Those same FMCSA roadside inspection records put 46.8 percent of the 220 inspected trucks at ten or more model years old. Whatever year yours is, the paperwork we ask for is the same: title, registration and any inspection reports you kept from those stops.
Work that keeps Polk County hauling
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 11,657 jobs in Haines City, of which 1,168 are in transportation and warehousing, 649 in manufacturing, 490 in wholesale trade, 484 in construction and 112 in mining and quarrying. Box trucks from wholesale routes and dumps from construction work are both on the list of what we buy; tell us which kind of work yours did.
Around Haines City, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tallies 107 construction firms alongside just 5 warehousing firms. Across Polk County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 2,197 farms, led by cattle, honey and foliage plants. A cattle trailer tractor or a nursery delivery truck parked on farmland is collected at the farm; send directions to the barn or shed if the field gate is off a back road.
Six bridges appear in the National Bridge Inventory for Haines City, and none of them is load-posted or under 14 feet of clearance. A tall or heavy unit can be reached here without a detour, so just give us the address.
The questions we get asked in Haines City
- My dump truck is parked at the sand pit south-east of town. Can it be collected at that pit?The Haines City Mine, listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration 3.4 miles south-east, is close enough that we collect at the pit. Tell us who can open the gate and when.
- I pulled containers from the Winter Haven ramp. Which details get the sale moving? The Bureau of Transportation Statistics puts the CFILC ramp 12.8 miles south-west of Haines City, and we cover trucks that work it. Send the VIN, an odometer photo and the title holder’s name to start.
- My reefer hauled produce out of Polk County. Is a reefer tractor something you take?FMCSA’s carrier census counts 69 Haines City carriers in fresh produce and 59 in refrigerated food, and reefers from that work are trucks we buy. Include photos of the reefer unit and its hour reading with the tractor.
- Will a bridge stop you reaching my truck in Haines City?Of the six bridges the National Bridge Inventory lists here, none is load-posted or below 14 feet, so a low clearance is not a concern. Give us the street address and we plan the route.
