For a seller on the island, that usually means the truck is parked at a home, a shop or a job yard somewhere near town rather than at a distant terminal.
Sixty of those Key Largo operators are private fleets, according to the same FMCSA census, meaning businesses that haul their own goods or equipment. If your truck belongs to a contractor, a marina or a shop rather than a for-hire outfit, tell us whose name is on the title before anything else, since that is the person who signs.
New registrations keep arriving: six carriers joined the FMCSA census from Key Largo in 2025 and nine in 2024. A newer operation selling its first truck needs the same short list as everyone else here: the title, the current registration and clear photos of the cab, the frame and the tires.
Refuse, vehicles and heavy equipment on the Keys
General freight leads the cargo list, with 50 Key Largo carriers declaring it in FMCSA’s carrier census, so box trucks and straight trucks feeding island stores and restaurants make up a good share of what is registered locally. Send the body length, the lift-gate details if it has one, and the VIN.
Nineteen carriers here declare garbage, refuse and trash, a figure taken from FMCSA’s census, which points to roll-off trucks, rear loaders and dumpster haulers working around Key Largo. With a refuse body, photograph the packer or hoist as well as the chassis, and tell us whether the body and the truck are titled together.
Twelve local carriers list motor vehicles as cargo and eleven list machinery and large objects, per FMCSA. Car haulers, rollbacks and lowboy tractors belong in that group. If a trailer goes with the tractor, have its title or registration ready alongside the truck’s so both can be collected on one trip.
Drivers attached to Key Largo carriers split 208 within a 100-mile radius and 98 beyond it, as FMCSA’s carrier census records them. A truck on short island runs is likely sitting close to home when you call; one that goes up to the mainland may be parked off the Keys, so tell us where it is right now.
Single trucks and larger island fleets
An owner retiring several units at once can list them together; send a VIN for each, plus where each one is parked, and we plan the collections as one job.
Most operators on the island are far smaller than those three, and a single-truck owner sells the same way a fleet does. Have the title signed by the registered owner, any lien release if the truck was financed, and service records if you kept them.
Getting a truck off the island
Low clearance is not a concern on the local spans, but a heavy unit may need a route that avoids the two posted crossings, so tell us the gross weight and axle count when you get in touch.
North of town, SDI Aggregates runs a crushed-stone quarry that the Mine Safety and Health Administration places 20.6 miles from Key Largo. If your dump truck or aggregate hauler is parked at a site up that way, give us the gate contact and the hours the yard is open.
Construction jobs and farm hauling in Monroe County
Construction accounts for 463 of the 4,480 jobs counted in Key Largo for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, or 10.3 percent. Dump trucks, flatbeds and mixer chassis tied to building work in Key Largo are trucks we buy; list the body type and any attachments when you write to us.
The same LEHD figures put 127 Key Largo jobs in manufacturing, 102 in transportation and warehousing and 67 in wholesale trade. A delivery truck or refrigerated box from one of those businesses sells with the same papers: title, registration and a set of photos.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 39 farms in Monroe County, with aquatic plants, corn and potted flowering plants topping the list. A nursery truck or small farm flatbed from the county is welcome; tell us where in the county it sits.
