Car haulers, lowboys and lumber flatbeds in Largo
Of the 489 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census for Largo, 233 list general freight, 64 list machinery and large objects, and 55 each list lumber and motor vehicles. If your truck is a car hauler, a lowboy tractor or a flatbed that carried poles and beams around Pinellas County, tell us the body or trailer setup when you first get in touch, along with the VIN.
Most Largo operators stay inside Florida: FMCSA’s census counts 411 intrastate carriers against 74 that cross state lines, and 222 of the city’s carriers are private fleets moving their own goods. A contractor or supplier who kept one or two trucks for its own deliveries can sell them to us the same way an owner-operator would; bring the registration in the company’s name and someone able to sign for the business.
New authority keeps arriving too, with FMCSA recording 31 new Largo carriers in 2025 and 25 in 2024. If you started a carrier recently and are now parking a tractor, the title, the current registration and your USDOT number are the three things to have on the table before we talk.
Inspection-year spread across Largo-registered tractors
FMCSA roadside inspection records from September 2024 to August 2026 cover 142 Largo-registered trucks, with a median model year of 2021 and 21.8% of them ten or more years old. Whatever year yours is, photograph the data plate on the door jamb so the year and make are confirmed from the start.
Across 70 Largo carriers that report mileage, FMCSA’s census puts the median at 19,875 miles per truck per year. Send a clear photo of the odometer and the hour meter if the truck has one, and include the service records you kept from the shop that handled it in Pinellas County.
Driver counts filed with FMCSA show 1,577 Largo drivers working within 100 miles of base and 1,489 going farther. A local truck is usually sitting in a yard in town when we collect it; one that runs long routes may be parked somewhere else entirely, so give us the address where it actually sits today.
Selling more than one tractor from a Largo yard
Three Largo fleets in FMCSA’s census run 77, 72 and 50 power units, the 72-unit operation with 106 drivers on its books. If you manage a group of trucks being retired together, a single list with each VIN, model year and yard location lets us plan one collection rather than several.
For each unit on that list, match the title to the truck and note any lienholder. Where a bank still holds a title, give us the lender’s name and the account contact so the release can be arranged before the truck leaves the yard.
Rail, fuel and cement sites around Largo
The North American Rail Network shows the St Petersburg rail yard 10.4 miles south-east of Largo and the Port Tampa yard 19.6 miles east. A tractor that has worked drayage between those yards can be collected at either end of its route; tell us which yard or lot it is parked at and who holds the gate key.
Across Old Tampa Bay, the Energy Information Administration lists the Port Tampa Blending Terminal 13.6 miles east and the Tampa Terminal 14.4 miles east, while the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the CITGO Petroleum Corporation liquid bulk terminal at 19.8 miles. If your tractor pulled tank trailers into those terminals, keep any terminal access or hazmat paperwork with the title.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Tampa Cement Grinding Plant 19.9 miles east of the city. Mixer and bulk trucks that served that plant are trucks we purchase; photograph the drum or the bulk body, and the chassis plate, as well as the cab.
Construction, wholesale and farm hauling in Pinellas
Wholesale trade accounts for 3,540 of Largo’s 64,325 jobs in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts, with construction at 2,672 and manufacturing at 1,991. County Business Patterns adds 312 construction establishments. Dump trucks, flatbeds and box trucks from those contractors and distributors are all welcome; a registration in the business name and a signer with authority is what we need.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 115 farms in Pinellas County, with potted flowering plants, honey and cattle at the top. A nursery’s straight truck or a stake bed used for plant deliveries sells like any other truck; send photos of the box and the liftgate along with the paperwork.
Collecting a truck inside Largo
None of Largo’s 27 bridges carries a load posting or sits below 14 feet of clearance, according to the National Bridge Inventory. Tell us whether the truck is in a gated yard, behind a business or at a residence, and whether a trailer is still coupled to it.
Near Pinellas Park AFRC, 6.7 miles south-east on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, or out by MacDill Air Force Base 16.8 miles east, base access rules apply; if the truck is parked on or beside an installation, arrange for someone who can escort a collection driver.
