Forty-five carriers based on the island
Forty-five active motor carriers give Marco Island as their base in FMCSA’s carrier census. Most are small operations, so the seller is usually also the driver and the titleholder, which keeps the paperwork in one pair of hands. Have the title, the current registration and the VIN plate photo ready before you contact us.
Of those 45 carriers, 40 run intrastate and only 4 cross state lines, according to the same FMCSA census. A truck that has stayed inside Florida will carry a Florida title and Florida plates, so there is no out-of-state paperwork to chase down before a sale.
Twenty-one of the island’s carriers are private fleets in FMCSA’s records, meaning they haul their own goods rather than freight for hire. If your truck belongs to a contracting, landscaping or marine business on the island, the title may be in the company’s name; bring a letter or resolution showing who can sign for it.
What the trucks carry
General freight, lumber, machinery and refuse
General freight is the cargo class most often listed, by 18 Marco Island carriers in FMCSA’s census. Box trucks and straight trucks on delivery work fit this group, and we collect them from a driveway, a storage lot or a marina yard as easily as from a shop.
Seven local carriers haul logs, poles, beams and lumber, and another seven move machinery and large objects, the FMCSA census shows. Flatbeds, stake bodies and lowboy tractors are the trucks behind those listings. Photograph the deck, the bed and any winch or ramps along with the cab and the data plate.
Garbage, refuse and trash appears on 5 carrier registrations here in the FMCSA file. Roll-off trucks and rear loaders have body serial plates of their own; include a picture of that plate and note the body maker so we can match the chassis title to the equipment on it.
Island job sites and the crews on them
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 8,039 jobs on Marco Island in 2023, and 878 of them, or 10.9 percent, were in construction. Dump trucks, concrete trucks and flatbed haulers serving those crews are among the trucks we purchase here, wherever the job site has left them.
For the Marco Island area, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tallies 91 construction establishments, from general contractors to specialty trades. If your truck is parked on a builder’s yard or an active site, give us the address and the name of someone who can let our driver through the gate.
LEHD’s 2023 figures place 132 jobs in transportation and warehousing, 82 in manufacturing and 59 in wholesale trade on the island. Trucks from those smaller employers are just as welcome; a service log, even a handwritten one, helps us understand what the truck has done.
Golden Gate Quarry and Collier County farms
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Golden Gate Quarry, a crushed-stone operation about 20.2 miles north of Marco Island. Aggregate dump trucks that load there and deliver back to the coast can be sold from either end of the run; tell us whether the truck sits near the quarry or at home on the island.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 330 farms in Collier County, with cattle, equine and honey listed as the leading products. Livestock haulers, horse transport rigs and farm straight trucks from those operations qualify too, and we can meet the truck at the farm gate inland.
Short routes and low annual miles
Among drivers working for Marco Island carriers, 70 stay within 100 miles of base and 28 go beyond it, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Most local trucks will be close to home when we come for them, so an address on the island or in nearby Collier County is usually all we need.
Seven carriers here report mileage to FMCSA, and their median comes to 6,000 miles per truck per year in the carrier census. Write down the odometer reading when you send photos; it is one of the first things we ask for with the VIN.
Ten-truck fleets and newcomers
The three biggest fleets based on the island run 10, 5 and 5 power units in FMCSA’s census, with 10, 5 and 4 drivers. A business selling two or three trucks at once can list them together, with a VIN and a title for each, and we will plan one collection.
FMCSA records show 5 new carriers registered on Marco Island in 2025, after 1 in 2024. If your operation is one of the newer ones and the truck is still financed, have the lender’s name and the payoff letter on hand, since the lienholder signs off on the title.
Misplaced the title on a truck kept on the island? Florida’s title agency issues the duplicate, and that has to be in hand before the sale closes. Ask for the duplicate early, and keep the receipt to show us that the request is under way.
The questions we get asked in Marco Island
- My aggregate truck spends the week at Golden Gate Quarry - must it come home to the island before you collect?Golden Gate Quarry is about 20.2 miles north of the island on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from either place. Give us the address where the truck will be parked and a contact who can open the gate.
- My truck is titled to my contracting company. Who signs the paperwork when you collect it?Construction accounted for 878 of Marco Island’s 8,039 jobs in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts, so company-titled trucks come up often here. Bring a document showing you are authorised to sign for the business, along with the title.
- I run a refuse truck on the island. What should I send you first?Five Marco Island carriers list garbage and refuse in FMCSA’s carrier census, and for their trucks we start with the chassis VIN, the body serial plate and the odometer reading. Photos of the body and the cab come next.
