The Prairie yards and the tracks below Medulla
Two rail yards lie just below Medulla: PRAIRIE at 2.6 miles south and PRAIRIE JCT at 3.3 miles south, both mapped in the North American Rail Network from the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that shuttles loads to and from those sidings may well be parked within a few minutes of them when we arrive, so give us the street address or the gate it sits behind.
Trucks staged near a rail siding are often on ground that belongs to someone else. If yours is on a yard lot or a shipper’s property close to Prairie, tell us who controls access and name a person who can let a driver in on the day of pickup.
Before anyone comes out, have the Florida title in your name and the current registration close at hand. Photos of the cab, the frame rails and the tires, taken where the truck stands, let us match what we see on arrival to what you described.
Mineral Grow, Four Corners and the aggregate sites
Mine Safety and Health Administration listings put Mineral Grow, an industrial-mineral mine, 10.8 miles south-east of Medulla, with the Four Corners mine 13.5 miles to the south. Off-road dump trucks, water trucks and lowboy tractors that served either site are vehicles we purchase, and we can collect from a yard outside the mine gate.
Further out, the Van Fleet sand and gravel operation lies 19.6 miles north-east and Kathleen Mine, a crushed-stone quarry, sits 22 miles north, per the same MSHA records. If your dump truck or end-dump trailer hauled aggregate from one of those, keep any scale tickets or site safety sheets you still hold, since they tell us what the truck carried and where it went.
Haul trucks from pit work frequently stay parked on the operator’s property. Confirm with the site whether an outside driver can enter, and tell us early whether the unit is road-registered or kept for on-site use only.
Tank haulers on the road north
A liquid bulk terminal stands 8.4 miles north of Medulla in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listing of freight facilities. Tank trucks and tractors that pulled tankers in and out of a terminal like that one belong on the list of equipment we take.
For a tanker tractor, send the VIN, the odometer reading and a note on what the trailer hauled. Any tank inspection certificates or maintenance logs you have kept should travel with the title when we meet.
Intermodal freight at Winter Haven
East of town, 17.6 miles out, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists a rail intermodal ramp at Winter Haven. Day cabs and sleepers that pull containers off that ramp are trucks we buy, whether they are based in Medulla or nearer to Winter Haven.
A tractor left at a drop yard near the Winter Haven ramp can stay right there for collection. Give us that location and a contact, and do the paperwork from wherever you are.
Construction, wholesale and the jobs here
Construction holds 244 of Medulla’s 2,389 jobs, a 10.2 percent share in 2023, when the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts tallied work by sector. Flatbeds, dump trucks and stake-bed trucks that serve building sites around town are part of what we purchase.
Wholesale trade accounts for 119 of those jobs, or 5 percent, according to the same LEHD figures. Box trucks and straight trucks that run wholesale deliveries can be sold to us with the title, registration and a set of photos taken in good light.
Cattle and hives
Cattle, honey and foliage across the county
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 2,197 farms in Polk County, with cattle, honey and foliage plants at the top of its list. Livestock haulers, flatbeds that move hives and box trucks that carry nursery stock all come out of that kind of farming.
A farm truck often sits on pasture or behind a barn, away from paved road. Tell us whether a tow rig can reach it from the nearest gravel or paved lane. Also say whether the truck carries farm tags or a standard registration, and have the title ready to sign.
