South of the island
Sand, gravel and mineral pits south and west
Head south off the island and Brisbane Pit, an industrial-mineral mine, comes up at 15.9 miles, with the Sunshine Mine sand and gravel operation just past it at 16.6 miles, both on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that hauls out of either pit can stay parked near the pit gate or at the yard it returns to; send us that address and we plan the pickup there.
Corrigan Ranch Division, a sand and gravel operation, sits 20.7 miles south on the same Mine Safety and Health Administration register, and Buck Hammock, an industrial-mineral mine, lies 20.6 miles west. If your truck works pit ground like this, photograph the bed, the frame rails and the tag before you contact us, and keep the title in the glovebox file with the registration.
Hauling aggregate between these four sites and the island means a truck may sit off a paved road. Tell us whether a lowboy trailer can get to it, and who holds the key or the gate code on the day.
North-west and north
Containers at Cocoa, fuel at the Cape
According to the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the COCOA-ROCKLEDGE rail yard is 22 miles north-west of town. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics separately lists the Cocoa intermodal ramp at 22.1 miles in that direction. A day cab that has pulled containers off that ramp can be sold from wherever it is parked in the Cocoa area.
Up the coast, 23.5 miles north, the Energy Information Administration records the CAPE CANAVERAL petroleum product terminal. Fuel tractors and tank trailers that load there should come with their registration, the tank inspection papers you hold, and the VIN, so the details of the unit arrive in one message.
Patrick Space Force Base appears on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list of military installations 11.9 miles north. If your truck is parked on a property with controlled access near the base, name a contact who can let a driver in.
Island trades
Jobs and building trades on the island
Melbourne Beach is home to 3,250 residents, and 695 jobs were based in the town in 2023 according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Service vans, box trucks and flatbeds that work those jobs are trucks we buy, and they can be collected from a driveway or a business lot on the island.
There are 32 construction establishments on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns figures for the area. A contractor’s stake-bed, crane truck or small dump can be sold with the business’s paperwork: the title in the company name, the registration and any service invoices you kept.
Brevard’s cattle ranches, apiaries and growers
Across Brevard County there are 584 farms, and cattle lead their output ahead of honey and potted flowering plants, per USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Livestock haulers, flatbeds that move hives and box trucks that carry nursery stock are all part of what we purchase.
Farm trucks are often parked out on the ranch or behind a barn. Give us the parcel address, the route in from the nearest road, and a photo of the title and the tag so the paperwork is settled before a driver goes out.
The Florida title and the papers that go with it
A Florida title in your name, or in the name of your company with someone able to sign for it, is the main document. If the title is lost, the state’s title agency issues a duplicate, so start that request before you call us.
Alongside the title, have the registration, the VIN, the odometer reading and photos of the cab, the frame and any body or trailer. Service records, inspection reports and site paperwork from the pits or the terminal help us understand the truck’s work history.
The questions we get asked in Melbourne Beach
- Can you collect a dump truck left at the Sunshine Mine instead of on the island? The Sunshine Mine sand and gravel operation is 16.6 miles south of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration register, and we collect the truck where it sits there. Name the property owner at the pit and whoever will unlock the entrance for our driver.
- My truck’s Florida title went missing while it was garaged on the barrier island; what now?Florida’s duplicate titles come from the state’s title agency, so apply there first. Send us the VIN and registration in the meantime so the rest of the paperwork is ready.
- Will you take a fuel tractor that runs loads out of the Cape Canaveral terminal? The CAPE CANAVERAL petroleum product terminal, 23.5 miles north according to the Energy Information Administration, is served by fuel tractors and tank trailers, and those are trucks we purchase. Send the VIN, registration and tank inspection papers.
