Pits off the ridge
Sand pits just below Montverde
Independent Mine, a sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 6.2 miles south of Montverde, sits close to Center Sand Company at 6.9 miles. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that loads at either pit may well be parked at the pit gate or a nearby yard when you call, so give us that address rather than your home one.
Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places the Okahumpka industrial-mineral mine 16.1 miles to the north-west and the Mid-Coast Aggregates LLC-Mazak Mine, a crushed-stone quarry, 18.8 miles west. For a truck that has worked between these sites, send photos of the body, the tailgate and the VIN plate so we see the whole unit before anyone heads out to it.
Eastern rail and tankage
Rail yards and fuel terminals east of the lake
On the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the ORLANDO rail yard lies 18.5 miles east and the TAFT yard 21.6 miles south-east. A day cab that shuttles freight to either yard can be collected from a lot near the tracks; tell us the gate it uses and the hours it is open.
Heniff, a liquid bulk terminal, is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics 17.3 miles east, and the Energy Information Administration shows the ORLANDO petroleum product terminal 22.2 miles south-east. If you run a tanker tractor between those terminals, keep its tank inspection certificates with the title so they travel with the truck when it changes hands.
Car haulers, tankers and van freight from a small lakeside register
Montverde has 18 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, with general freight named by 8 of that group. Three haul motor vehicles, two carry liquids or gases and two move paper products, so a car hauler, a tank tractor or a dry van tractor are all trucks we would expect to hear about from this town.
Of those 18, the same federal census shows 15 working intrastate only and 3 crossing state lines, with 4 running as private fleets hauling their own goods. An intrastate truck still needs its Florida title and registration ready at pickup; an interstate one should also have its most recent annual inspection report on hand.
The biggest operation in town, per the FMCSA register, runs 16 power units with 18 drivers, the next 6 units and 6 drivers. If you are thinning a small fleet like either one, send the VINs as a single list and we can look at every truck together.
Mostly local miles from a lakeside town
Of the drivers at Montverde carriers, 55 stay inside a 100-mile radius and 17 work farther out, going by FMCSA’s carrier census. A local-radius tractor from Montverde usually ends its shift back in town, so tell us whether it parks at your house, a shop lot or a customer’s yard and we will set the pickup there.
New carriers here are few: the FMCSA census records one new registration in 2024 and one in 2025. If you started up in either year and are now selling the truck you began with, have the purchase paperwork and the current registration together before you reach out.
A duplicate from the Hooks Street counter in Clermont
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles issues titles through county tax collector service centers and license plate agents. Closest to Montverde is the Lake County motor vehicle service center - Clermont Service Center, at 1505 Hooks St., Clermont, 34711, which the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles lists 5.3 miles from town.
If the certificate has gone missing, a duplicate is applied for at that Clermont counter. Bring photo identification and the VIN, and if a lender still shows on the record, ask the lienholder for a lien release first so the new copy prints clean.
Nurseries and builders
Foliage growers and job sites around Montverde
Foliage plants top the farm list for Lake County in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, ahead of propagative material and potted flowering plants, across 1,569 farms countywide. A box truck or reefer that has carried nursery stock can be photographed at the greenhouse it serves; show us the cargo box inside and out.
Around town, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns lists 19 construction establishments, and its LEHD job counts for 2023 put 80 of Montverde’s 636 jobs, a 12.6 percent share, in transportation and warehousing. A contractor selling a flatbed or a dump truck can leave it at the job site; tell us the site address and when the gate is unlocked.
