Ninety-seven carriers on the Pasco County roll
Of the 97 Moon Lake carriers active on FMCSA’s carrier census, just 15 hold interstate authority while 82 keep their loads inside Florida. If your truck has spent its working life on Florida roads, have the Florida registration and the title in the same folder before you call; those two papers are the first things we ask to see.
Thirty of the Moon Lake carriers in that federal census run private fleets, hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. A truck that has belonged to a contractor or a business owner here is welcome; send the VIN, a photo of the door and dash, and the name the title is issued under.
The biggest local operation on the FMCSA roll runs 8 power units with 8 drivers, and the next two run 4 and 3 trucks. With fleets that small, the seller is usually the person who drove the truck, so you can answer our questions about where it worked yourself and keep the call short.
Cargo on the roll
General freight, vehicles and heavy equipment
General freight is the commonest cargo class among Moon Lake carriers, claimed by 36 of them in FMCSA’s census, and 14 more list motor vehicles. Box trucks, day cabs pulling dry vans and car-hauler tractors all fit that picture; tell us the body or trailer type when you first get in touch so the photos you send line up with it.
Eleven carriers here register for machinery and large objects, and 10 for garbage, refuse and trash, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Lowboy tractors, rollbacks and roll-off or rear-loader units belong on the list of what we purchase, and for a refuse body we ask for a photo of the packer or hoist plate alongside the cab.
Eleven Moon Lake outfits filed annual mileage with FMCSA, and the midpoint of what they reported sits at 10,000 miles a truck. That figure suits local and regional work around Pasco County; have the current odometer reading written down when you contact us.
Rock and clinker
Quarries north of Moon Lake and the Brooksville plant
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Georgia Stone Spring Hill Quarry 9.4 miles north-east of Moon Lake and County Line Mine, an industrial-mineral operation, 9.7 miles to the north. If your dump truck or end-dump tractor is parked at a pit gate up that way, give us the site name and someone who can let us onto the property.
Farther out, Central State Aggregates LLC runs a crushed-stone quarry 19.9 miles east, and the Brooksville South Cement Plant sits 22.9 miles north-east, both on MSHA’s register. A mixer or bulk tractor still on a yard near either one can stay where it is parked, and we arrange the collection at that yard rather than back in Moon Lake.
Plant floor, job sites
Plant jobs and local builders
Of the 771 jobs located in Moon Lake in 2023, 588 were in manufacturing, a 76.3 percent share, on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. A straight truck or tractor that has shuttled parts and finished goods for a plant is one we buy; plant gate passes or delivery logs are useful to keep with the truck if you still have them.
Builders are a steady presence too: 78 construction establishments show up for Moon Lake in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Contractors selling a flatbed, a dump body or a stake-bed truck should send photos of the body, the frame rails and the tires along with the cab, and say whether any equipment mounted on it comes with the sale.
Pasco County’s cattle, horse and potted-plant farms
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,190 farms in Pasco County, with cattle, equine and potted flowering plants at the top of its list. Livestock haulers, horse-trailer tractors and refrigerated nursery trucks are all trucks we take; if yours sits on a pasture or a nursery lot, tell us whether the ground is firm enough for a tow truck to reach it.
Check that the name on the registration matches the name on the title before you send copies. Where the title has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues a replacement, and it helps to apply for that before the truck is collected.

Moon Lake’s 2024 and 2025 registrations
Eighteen carriers are new in the last two years: 11 registered in Moon Lake during 2025 and 7 during 2024, by the count in FMCSA’s census. If you started an operation recently and are now stepping away from it, a truck still under a loan can be sold too; tell us the lender’s name so the lien release can be handled with the title.
Owner-operators who are closing a USDOT number should keep the registration current until the truck leaves. Have your photo ID, the title or lien paperwork, and any service records together, and we will set the collection at the address where the truck is parked.
The questions we get asked in Moon Lake

Do you take trucks like mine?Eighty-two of the 97 carriers in FMCSA’s census for Moon Lake work only inside Florida, and their tractors, box trucks and dump trucks are all on our list.
