Where North Sarasota’s work comes from
Construction holds a 34.2 percent share of the jobs located in North Sarasota, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023. That points to dump trucks, flatbeds, mixers and service bodies that spend their days on building sites. If yours is one of them, tell us the body type and the axle count when you first call, and send photos from all four sides plus the cab.
Manufacturing comes next at 16.3 percent of local employment in the same LEHD figures. Box trucks and straight trucks that shuttle parts and finished goods between plants are common in that kind of work. Have the registration and a photo of the VIN plate ready when you get in touch.
Many of these trucks never leave a job site or a contractor’s yard for long. We collect from wherever the vehicle stands, so give us the street address, gate hours and the name of someone on site who can hand over keys.
Gulf docks, north
Port Manatee and the fuel terminal to the north
Nineteen and a half miles north, the Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal at Port Manatee. Tankers and fuel delivery trucks that load there and drop at stations around Sarasota fit what we buy. Keep any tank test certificates or service logs together with the title so they travel with the truck.
About 13.1 miles to the north-east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records the Manatee County Port. Day cabs and container chassis haulers that shuttle between the docks and warehouses inland are part of that traffic. If your tractor is parked near the port rather than in town, that is fine; tell us the lot and who controls the gate.
Port Manatee also has its own rail yard 19.7 miles north on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Trucks that move freight between that yard and the berths share the same road north, and we can arrange pickup at either end of it.
Railhead and quarry
Freight off the Brandenton rails, rock from Caloosa
A rail yard listed as Brandenton lies 8.8 miles north of North Sarasota on the North American Rail Network maintained by federal transportation agencies. Drayage tractors and flatbeds that meet freight off the rail there are a short run from town. Photograph the fifth wheel, the deck and the tires as well as the dashboard so we see the whole rig.
Caloosa Materials, an industrial-mineral mine registered with the Mine Safety and Health Administration, is 24.4 miles to the north. Rock trucks, end dumps and lowboys that haul from a quarry like that one are welcome here. If the truck carries an MSHA site sticker or quarry access records, include a photo of them with the rest.
Heavy haulers often sit at the pit between loads. Tell us whether a tow rig can reach the truck and whether it has keys.
Nurseries and ranches
Farm trucks across the county line
Out past the edge of town, Sarasota County counts 286 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and its leading products there are propagative material, cattle and foliage plants. Nursery stock and potted foliage go out on box trucks and refrigerated straight trucks, while ranches use stake beds and livestock haulers.
On a Sarasota County nursery or ranch, the title might name the business instead of you. Check whose name sits on it before you contact us, and if it belongs to a company, have the paperwork showing who can sign for it.
Nursery and ranch trucks are often parked in a barn or a back pasture, so send a pin or directions to the spot with the photos.
Washington Blvd.
A lost certificate, sorted on Washington Blvd.
Florida titles are issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, which works through county tax collector service centers and license plate agents. On the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office list, the local one is the Sarasota County motor vehicle service center - Sarasota at 101 S. Washington Blvd., Sarasota, 34236, which that department places 1.6 miles from North Sarasota, per the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
If the original certificate is missing, a duplicate can be requested there before the sale. Bring your ID and the VIN, and if a lender once held a lien on the truck, bring the lien release too.
Once the title is in your hand, send us a clear photo of the front and back. With that and the registration we can line up the pickup without a second round of questions.
