Lumber, lowboys and general freight out of Pace
Pace is home base for 140 active trucking carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census. If one of those operations is yours and the tractor or straight truck is ready to go, have the title and current registration in hand before you call, and the paperwork side of the purchase takes care of itself.
General freight is listed by 54 of those Pace carriers, machinery and large objects by 40, logs, poles, beams and lumber by 31, and farm supplies by 16, according to the same FMCSA census. A log truck, a lowboy tractor or a flatbed rig all fit what we buy; tell us which of those loads it pulled and what trailer setup, if any, comes with it.
New registrations show up in the FMCSA carrier census as well: 14 carriers started in Pace during 2025 and 8 in 2024. If you started one of those Pace outfits and now have a tractor to let go, send the VIN, a cab photo and a shot of the door decal.
Short runs inside Florida and private fleets
Of the Pace carriers on FMCSA’s census, 107 run intrastate, 32 run interstate, and 75 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A contractor or farm that owns its trucks rather than hiring them out can sell one directly; have whoever signs the title on the call so the name on the paperwork matches.
Drivers tied to these carriers mostly stay close: FMCSA’s census lists 260 working within 100 miles and 102 going farther. A truck that spends its weeks on Santa Rosa County roads is usually parked near home at night, which makes it simple for us to collect from a yard or driveway in Pace.
For 38 of these carriers reporting mileage, the median works out to 18,800 miles per truck in the FMCSA census. Put the odometer reading in your first message along with the VIN; those two figures answer most of our early questions.
From single trucks to fleets of fifty-plus
The biggest Pace fleet in the FMCSA carrier census runs 57 power units with 57 drivers; the next two run 22 and 18 units. If you manage one of these and plan to sell several trucks together, send a list of VINs and where each one is parked so collection can be planned as a group.
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA cover 120 trucks tied to Pace carriers, checked between August 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2019 and 33 percent ten or more years old. Whatever the model year of yours, the steps are the same: title, registration, photos of the cab, frame and tires, and any service records you kept.
Dump work between the Quikrete and Molino pits
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Quikrete Mine, a sand and gravel operation 8.5 miles east of Pace, and Molino Pit, another one 14.1 miles north-west. Dump trucks and tractors that pull end dumps out of pits like these can stay parked on site; give us the gate contact and we arrange pickup there.
Construction accounts for 640 of the 6,029 jobs counted in Pace for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 10.6 percent of the total, and County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 113 construction establishments. A mixer, dump or flatbed that worked those sites sells the same way: send photos of the body as well as the cab, and say what equipment is mounted on it.
Goulding, Pensacola yards and the fuel terminals
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the GOULDING yard sits 11.6 miles south-west of Pace and the PENSACOLA yard 15 miles south. If your tractor shuttled loads to either one and is now parked near the tracks, tell us the yard and the lot it is on.
About 15 miles south, the Energy Information Administration lists the PENSACOLA TPSI petroleum product terminal, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Trans Montaigne liquid bulk terminal 15.1 miles out. A tanker tractor that loaded at those racks should come with its registration and whatever inspection records you hold for the tank work.
Airfields east of Pace and cotton farms around it
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places NOLF Spencer 1.6 miles east of Pace and NAS Whiting Field 10.8 miles north-east. If you are being reassigned from either installation and leaving a truck behind, it can stay where it is; give us the address and someone who can meet us, and the sale can be finished from your next posting.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 732 farms in Santa Rosa County, with cotton, cattle and equine leading. A grain truck, cattle hauler or horse-trailer tractor that works those farms can be picked up at the barn; send a photo of the title along with pictures of the truck so we can confirm the owner of record.
The questions we get asked in Pace
- Can my dump truck stay at the Quikrete pit instead of being driven into Pace? The Quikrete Mine sits 8.5 miles east of Pace on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from the pit itself. Pass along the pit gate contact and the Quikrete site hours.
- Orders are moving me away from Whiting Field; can the truck sell before I leave?NAS Whiting Field is 10.8 miles north-east of Pace by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and the truck can be left near it after you move. Leave the title signed off as we instruct and name a contact with keys.
- I run a small Pace fleet. Can several trucks go at once?Pace fleets in FMCSA’s carrier census run from single trucks up to 57 power units, and we handle groups of any size. Send each VIN, odometer reading and parking location in one list.
