Terminal tankers
Tankers out of the Panama City fuel terminal
Just 4.4 miles north-west of Parker, the Panama City petroleum product terminal appears in Energy Information Administration listings. A tanker or a tractor that pulls tank trailers from that terminal can be collected from the yard where it is kept, so tell us whether it sits inside a fenced lot and who holds the key.
If the tractor loaded at that terminal on a regular route, a list of the trailers it pulled and any annual inspection reports help us understand it before we see it. Add clear photos of the cab, the frame rails and the fifth wheel, and keep the title in the name of whoever is signing.
Rail yards, West Terminal and the port to the north
Two yards, Panama City and Sherman, are both listed 4.9 miles north-west of Parker in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that shuttle loads between those yards and nearby shippers are on our list, and a parked truck near either yard is fine where it stands.
Further out, at 8.6 miles north-west, sits West Terminal, an intermodal ramp, and the Panama City Port Authority lies 7.8 miles north; the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists both. For a container tractor that has worked the ramp or the port, send the VIN, the odometer reading and the registration card first, since those three settle most of our questions about it.
Hauling to Tyndall and the Navy base west of town
Tyndall Air Force Base lies 6.4 miles south-east of Parker and Naval Support Activity Panama City 9.6 miles west, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A truck that hauls to either installation may be parked off base at a contractor yard, and that address is the one we need for collection.
Base work tends to leave a paper trail: gate passes, delivery logs, service records kept for a contract. Hold on to any of those you still have and send them with your photos, and if the truck is registered to a company, have the person who can sign for that company ready when we talk.
Construction jobs and the sand pit at Sandhills
LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau put 790 jobs in Parker for 2023, and construction held 203 of them, or 25.7 percent. Dump trucks, flatbeds and mixer chassis that serve building sites around Parker are trucks we purchase, whether they sit at a job site or at home in a driveway.
Sandhills Plant 2, a sand and gravel operation 23.3 miles north of Parker on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s records, is the kind of site a local dump truck runs to. If yours hauled aggregate from a pit like that, tell us the body type and bed length, and photograph the hoist and tailgate as well as the cab.
Bay County farms
Stock and hay trucks from Bay County farms
Bay County’s 139 farms, led by cattle, goats and honey, are recorded in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A stock truck, a flatbed used for hay, or a pickup-class work truck kept on one of those farms can be collected from the property, so give us directions to where it is parked.
On a Bay County cattle or goat farm, the name on a truck’s title is sometimes a parent’s and the driver is a son or daughter. Check that the name on the title matches the person selling, and if the title is lost, the state’s title agency issues a replacement before the sale goes through.
