Ramp two miles off
Boxes and railcars just south-west and east of the bayou
West Terminal, a rail intermodal ramp the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 2.3 miles south-west of Pretty Bayou, is the nearest freight handoff to these streets. A day cab that has shuttled boxes off that ramp can be sold from wherever it is parked between runs; send the VIN, the odometer reading and a few photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel to start.
Due east, the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows two rail yards, PANAMA CITY and SHERMAN, each 3.6 miles out. If your tractor or flatbed has worked the transfer side of those yards, tell us which one, and whether the truck is kept inside a fenced lot so we can arrange gate access with whoever holds the key.
Tank loads, dock loads
A petroleum terminal and the port across the bay
Tankers loading in this corner of the bay use PANAMA CITY FL, a petroleum product terminal some 3.5 miles south-east of the bayou according to the Energy Information Administration. Tank trucks and tractors that load there are on the list of what we buy; keep any terminal inspection sheets or service records together with the title, since they tell us what the truck has hauled.
North-east across the water, Panama City Port Authority, FL is 4.7 miles away on Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. A chassis tractor or flatbed that works the docks does not need to come home first; give us the lot address and a name at the gate, and the pickup is planned around the port’s rules.
Contract trucks behind two different gates
Naval Support Activity Panama City lies 3.8 miles south-west, and Tyndall Air Force Base sits 13.8 miles to the south-east, both shown as military installations by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Box trucks and service vehicles that run contract work onto either base are trucks we take; if one is parked behind a checkpoint, say so, and tell us whether an escort can meet us or the truck can wait in an outside lot.
Owners who were reassigned away from either installation can still sell a truck left behind near Pretty Bayou. Name a neighbor or friend who can hand over keys, keep the signed title with you, and the rest of the sale can run by phone and email from your new posting.
Crews and materials
Builders’ trucks among the town’s jobs
Construction filled 124 Pretty Bayou positions in 2023, roughly one in six (16.4 percent) of 756 counted there by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES). Dump trucks, stake beds and flatbeds that carry crews and materials fit that work, and photos of the bed or body along with the cab help us understand the setup.
Material for those builders is close, too: Sandhills Plant 2, a sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 18 miles north of town, is where a local dump truck may have spent its days. Note any hydraulic or body service you have on paper, and say whether the truck is parked at a job site or at home.
Cattle, goats, honey
Farm trucks from the inland side of the bay
Bay County counted 139 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cattle, goats and honey led its listed products. A stock trailer hauler or a ranch flatbed kept on rural acreage north of Pretty Bayou is something we will collect where it stands, so share directions to the gate or field.
Farm-plated trucks change hands with the same Florida title as any other, so find that title first. If the truck has sat between seasons, a current registration and a photo of the dash help us confirm its details before we set a pickup.
Duplicate on file
The Bay County service center on the west side
Florida titles come from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and its county tax collector service centers and license plate agents handle replacements. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles lists the closest to Pretty Bayou as the Bay County motor vehicle service center - Panama City, at 850 W. 11th St., Panama City, 32401, 2.7 miles from town on the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office list.
Bring your ID and the VIN to that counter if the original is missing, and ask there about clearing any lien shown on the record. Once a duplicate is in hand, tell us, and the rest of the sale moves ahead on a clean title.
