Mines next door
Stone and mineral pits on the edge of Shady Hills
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the County Line Mine, an industrial-mineral operation, 2.6 miles north-west of Shady Hills. A tandem or tri-axle that hauls out of that pit is often parked at the mine gate or in a yard close by, so tell us which, and who can let a driver in to load it.
Georgia Stone’s Spring Hill Quarry, a crushed-stone pit, lies 3.6 miles east of town according to Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. If your dump truck runs aggregate from there, send photos of the body, the tailgate and the cab, plus the VIN, and keep the Florida title and current registration in one folder for the driver who comes to collect it.
Brooksville loads
Cement and crushed stone up the road at Brooksville
Further north-east, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places the Brooksville Quarry 14 miles out and the Brooksville South Cement Plant at 14.7 miles. Bulk pneumatic trailers, mixers and dump trucks that cycle between those two sites and Pasco job sites are trucks we buy, whether you keep them in Shady Hills or in a Brooksville lot.
A truck that lives near the cement plant does not have to be driven back to your house before a sale. Give us the street address of the lot, the name of whoever holds the gate key, and any service records you have kept, and the pickup is planned around that spot.
Nearly three hundred registered carriers around Shady Hills
Shady Hills has 297 active trucking companies on FMCSA’s carrier census, and 148 of them list general freight among what they carry. Box trucks, straight trucks and day cabs moving mixed loads make up much of that group; if yours is one, have the title in the name of the person or company selling it.
Of those carriers, FMCSA’s carrier census shows 54 hauling machinery and large objects, 47 moving motor vehicles and 29 carrying metal sheets, coils and rolls. Lowboys, car carriers and flatbed tractors with coil racks all fit, and for a tractor sold with its trailer, put both VINs and both registrations together before we arrive.
Most of these outfits stay inside Florida: FMCSA’s census counts 246 intrastate carriers against 51 that cross state lines, with 104 running private fleets for their own business. A contractor or landscaper selling a truck from a private fleet sells it the same way a for-hire carrier does, with the title and a photo set.
Pit-to-jobsite hauling that stays near the Pasco line
Carrier filings with FMCSA show 500 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 228 going beyond that radius. For a seller, that usually means the truck is home at night, in a driveway or yard in or near Shady Hills, which is the address to give us.
Across 67 local carriers reporting mileage on FMCSA’s carrier census, the median truck covers 29,781 miles a year. Note the odometer reading when you photograph the dash, so the figure we work from is the one on the truck today.
What the Pasco roadside stops turned up
Inspectors who checked Shady Hills rigs at the roadside from September 2024 to August 2026 wrote up 132 trucks, and FMCSA roadside inspection records put their middle model year at 2015. Just over half, 53 percent by those FMCSA roadside inspection records, carried a model year a decade or more back.
A copy of any roadside report your rig picked up on the Pasco stops should sit next to the title. Annual inspection sheets and maintenance logs belong in the same envelope; they tell us the truck’s history before anyone looks at it.
Yards in Shady Hills range from a lone tractor to a few dozen units. In FMCSA’s census, the three biggest local operators run 47, 41 and 12 power units, with 40, 37 and 12 drivers, so a seller might be letting go of one truck or several from a yard, and either is fine to tell us at the start.
Construction crews and cattle country
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 1,516 jobs in Shady Hills, and construction holds 366 of them, 24.1 percent. Dump trucks, flatbeds hauling equipment and service bodies parked at a job site can be collected there; tell us the site address and when the gate is open.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 118 construction establishments in the area, while LEHD shows 65 wholesale trade jobs. A contractor shutting down or trimming a fleet can list every unit in one message, with titles and registrations for each.
Pasco County had 1,190 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, horses and potted flowering plants at the top of the list. Livestock haulers, horse trucks and nursery box trucks from those farms are welcome; a truck kept at a ranch gate can be collected there.
The questions we get asked in Shady Hills
- My dump truck sits at the Spring Hill stone pit east of town; does it have to come home first?Georgia Stone’s pit, 3.6 miles east of Shady Hills by the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing, is a pickup spot like any driveway, so the truck stays put. Tell us who runs the gate so a pickup time can be arranged with them.
- My truck hauls for my own landscaping or building business rather than for hire; does that change how it sells?Private fleets make up 104 of the 297 carriers on FMCSA’s census for Shady Hills, and a truck from one sells the same way: title, registration and photos of the cab, frame and body.
- Which papers should sit on the seat when your driver reaches Shady Hills? In a town where FMCSA roadside inspection records show a median model year of 2015, inspection reports often travel with the title. Have the title, current Florida registration and any inspection or service records ready, and if the title is lost, start a duplicate with the state’s title agency.
- Do you buy trucks used on Pasco County farms?Cattle and horse operations lead Pasco County’s 1,190 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and livestock trucks, horse haulers and farm flatbeds are all trucks we buy.
