Taft and West yards, just south-east of Sky Lake
Two yards appear on the North American Rail Network close to Sky Lake: Taft at 1.8 miles and West at 2.4 miles, both to the south-east. If your tractor shuttles freight between those yards and the warehouses around them, tell us which yard it works from so we can plan the collection around its usual route.
A truck parked inside a rail yard or a fenced lot beside one needs someone who can open the gate. Give us that person’s name and number with the address, and send clear photos of the cab, the frame and the fifth wheel so the pickup crew knows what they are looking for.
The Orlando fuel terminal and the Heniff bulk site
Just 2.9 miles south-east of Sky Lake, past the rail yards, the Energy Information Administration places a petroleum product terminal it calls Orlando. Fuel tankers and the tractors that pull them load at sites like this one, and we buy both day cabs and sleepers from owners who ran that work.
Six miles north, at 6.2 miles by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listing, is the Heniff liquid bulk terminal. If your tractor hauled liquid bulk trailers to or from Heniff, have the title, the current registration and any tank or inspection paperwork in one place before you call; it lets us confirm the truck’s history from the documents rather than from memory.
Two Navy installations on the map
The NG Orlando Naval Training Center is 3.3 miles east of Sky Lake, and the Naval Logistics Support Annex Orlando is 14.5 miles to the north-east, both listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as military installations. Box trucks and tractors that make deliveries to installations like these can be sold to us from either side of the city.
If your truck is parked near one of those sites rather than at your home in Sky Lake, the address where it sits is the one we need. We collect it there, so there is no need to move it across Orange County first.
Sand haulers west toward Four Corners
West of town, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records two sand and gravel operations: Four Corners Sand Mine at 18 miles and Center Sand Company at 18.2 miles. If you own a dump truck or an end-dump tractor that works those pits, it is a truck we buy.
A dump truck that spends its days near Four Corners can stay out there for collection. Send us the VIN, the odometer reading and a photo of the body raised and lowered, and tell us whether the pit road is open to a pickup on weekdays.
Construction jobs and nursery farms around Sky Lake
Sky Lake held 2,191 jobs in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, and 143 of them, 6.5 percent, were in construction. Contractors behind those jobs run flatbeds, dump trucks and stake bodies, and any of those can be sold to us with its title and registration in hand.
Foliage plants top the Orange County crop list in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, ahead of propagative material and potted flowering plants, across 600 farms. Nursery growers move that stock in box trucks and reefers; if yours carried plants between greenhouses and garden centers, photos of the box interior and the refrigeration unit help us see it as you do.
The questions we get asked in Sky Lake
- Can you pick up a tractor that sits by the Taft yard instead of at my Sky Lake address?Taft is 1.8 miles south-east of Sky Lake on the North American Rail Network, and we collect from the yard side of town as readily as from a driveway. Give us the lot address and whoever holds the gate key.
- Which papers matter for a tanker tractor that loaded at the Orlando fuel terminal? The Energy Information Administration places the Orlando petroleum product terminal 2.9 miles south-east of Sky Lake, and for a tanker tractor from that run we ask for the title, the registration and any tank inspection records you kept, plus photos of the cab and frame.
- Will you fetch a dump truck from the Four Corners sand pit instead of town?Four Corners Sand Mine sits 18 miles west of Sky Lake in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and the truck can be picked up near the pit. Tell us the access road and the hours someone is on site.
- Are nursery box trucks and reefers from Orange County growers something you purchase?Orange County’s 600 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture are led by foliage and potted plant growers, and their box trucks and reefers are trucks we buy. Send the VIN, the title and photos of the body and the cooling unit.
