The Fort Pierce ramp and rail yards to the south
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places a rail intermodal ramp at Fort Pierce, 9.4 miles south of South Beach. A day cab or sleeper that pulls chassis on and off that ramp is the kind of tractor we buy, and it may well be parked closer to Fort Pierce than to the island when we come for it. Give us the street address where it sits, not just the town.
Two rail yards listed under the Fort Pierce name, one at 9.9 miles and one at 10 miles south, appear in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck has shuttled loads between those yards and nearby customers, tell us which runs it covered and send the VIN with photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel.
Before we schedule anything for a container tractor, have the title in the registered owner’s name and the current registration in the cab. Service records are welcome if you kept them; if you did not, a short note of what the truck pulled out of Fort Pierce answers most of our questions.
Quarries and pits west and north-west of the island
Capron Trails Mine, a crushed-stone quarry 9.4 miles west, is on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list of operations near South Beach. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that load at a quarry like that one are trucks we purchase, and we collect them at the yard, the pit gate or the owner’s driveway.
To the north-west, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Blue Goose Mine at 13.2 miles and Vero Rock and Sand at 13.8 miles, both sand and gravel operations. If your truck has hauled fill or sand from either one, photos of the body, the hoist and the tailgate help us see the whole truck before we talk.
Farther out, Fort Pierce Mine is a crushed-stone quarry 23.2 miles south-west in MSHA’s records. We collect from there as well. Send the location and describe the access road at the site.
Cattle, horses and aquatic plants across Indian River County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 492 farms in Indian River County, with aquatic plants, cattle and equine leading the county’s list. Livestock haulers, horse transport rigs and straight trucks that move nursery stock all fit what we buy from owners on the mainland side of the county.
For a farm truck, the paperwork is the same as for any other: the title, the registration and, if you have it, a record of when the truck was last serviced. Tell us whether it is kept at a barn, a pasture gate or a packing shed so we know how to reach it.
Who works in South Beach and what that means for selling
South Beach held 807 jobs in 2023 according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts.
If you run a box truck, a service body or a tractor from an address on the island, we come to that address. Along with the VIN, send its model year, its make and a handful of daylight photos of the cab, the frame and whatever body it carries.
Florida titles are issued by the state’s title agency, and the name on the title should match the seller’s name or the business that owns the truck. If the title has a lienholder listed, bring the lien release or the lender’s payoff contact so the transfer can go through.
Start that request early, and in the meantime send us the registration and the VIN so the rest of the sale can be lined up while the duplicate is on its way.
