Local crews
Building crews and distributors around South Sarasota
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES) put 8,609 jobs in South Sarasota in 2023, and 138 of them, or 1.6 percent, were in construction. Those are the crews behind dump trucks, stake beds and equipment haulers, and when one of those trucks is ready to go we collect it from the yard, the job site or the driveway where it is parked.
Wholesale trade accounted for 53 of the 2023 jobs in town, 0.6 percent of the total, according to the same LODES figures from the Census Bureau. If your box truck or straight truck ran deliveries for a distributor, have the title, the current registration and a few clear photos of the cab, the body and the VIN plate ready before you call.
Small operators often hold one or two trucks for years without a fleet office keeping the paperwork. If your service records are scattered across invoices and notebooks, gather what you can find; we work with whatever you have and ask about anything missing.
Nursery trucks
Nurseries, foliage growers and cattle in Sarasota County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counted 286 farms in Sarasota County, with propagative material, cattle and foliage plants as the leading products. Growers moving trays and potted stock rely on reefer box trucks and enclosed straight trucks, while ranches keep flatbeds and livestock haulers on the property.
A truck that lives on a farm or nursery is often parked well off the paved road. Tell us the gate code or the name of whoever can let us onto the land, and describe the ground between the gate and the truck so the pickup is planned for it.
For a reefer unit, photos of the refrigeration unit’s data plate and hour meter help us identify the equipment alongside the truck itself, so send them with the cab and chassis shots.
Rail yards and the port north toward Manatee County
About 13.5 miles north, the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists a rail yard under the name Brandenton. Tractors and drayage trucks that shuttle freight to a yard like that may be sitting there or at a lot nearby when you decide to sell, and you do not need to move it back to South Sarasota first.
Manatee County Port sits roughly 17 miles to the north-east on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list of ports. If your truck worked the docks, give us the address where it is parked now and the contact who can open the lot, and we arrange the collection around that.
Further north again, the same rail network records a Port Manatee rail yard 24.5 miles from town. A day cab that has pulled between the port and these rail yards still belongs on the list of trucks we buy, whatever trailer it ran under.
Fuel loads out of Port Manatee
Fuel trucks from South Sarasota load 24.2 miles north at the Port Manatee petroleum product terminal, as listed by the Energy Information Administration. Tank trucks and tractors that load fuel there for stations and job sites across the region are part of what we purchase.
If yours hauled fuel, keep any tank inspection certificates and hazmat placard records with the title; they tell us what the truck carried. Tell us whether the tank or trailer is part of the sale or whether you are selling the tractor alone, so the paperwork matches what we collect.
First call
What to send before a South Sarasota pickup
Start with the VIN, the odometer reading and the address where the truck is parked, whether that is a nursery near town or a lot up toward Manatee County Port. Those three details let us ask the right questions from the first call.
If the title is lost, apply to Florida’s title agency for a duplicate before the truck changes hands. A title held by a lender needs the lien release with it, so ask your lender for that letter early.
