Ranch-country carriers along the Broward edge
Of the 85 Southwest Ranches carriers active in FMCSA’s census, 72 hold intrastate-only registrations and 13 cross state lines. A tractor or straight truck that has stayed inside Florida its whole working life usually sits at a home lot or ranch gate in town, and that is where we pick it up; have the Florida title and current registration in hand before you call.
General freight appears on the cargo list of 36 of those carriers, according to the federal carrier census. Box trucks and tractors that pulled dry vans around Broward are trucks we buy; photograph the cab, both sides, the VIN plate and the odometer so the description and the pictures arrive together.
Thirty-nine of the 85 run as private fleets in the FMCSA registry, hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. If the truck belongs to a nursery, a horse farm or a contractor, the person who signs for the sale should be the one named on the title, or someone holding paperwork that lets them sign for the business.
Lowboys, car haulers and farm supply trucks
Sixteen Southwest Ranches carriers list machinery and large objects as cargo in FMCSA’s carrier census. Step-decks, lowboys and the tractors that pull them are on our list; send a photo of the trailer’s data plate and say whether the trailer is part of the sale or staying behind.
Twelve outfits here haul farm supplies and nine move motor vehicles, the federal registry shows. For a car hauler, daylight shots of the ramps and headrack from each side tell us the setup; for a feed or supply truck, a picture of the body and its doors does the same job.
New registrations keep arriving: FMCSA’s census logs 7 carriers added in 2025 and 6 in 2024. A truck bought for a new authority and now surplus can be sold here like any other, as long as the title is in the seller’s name or the lienholder is named so we know who else signs.
From one truck to a fleet of tractors
The biggest fleet based in town runs 95 power units with 141 drivers, per FMCSA’s carrier census, and the next two run 50 and 15. If you are clearing several units from one yard, list every VIN with its plate number and the yard address, and we plan a single collection rather than a string of visits.
Of the drivers working for Southwest Ranches carriers, 431 stay within 100 miles of base and 99 run beyond it, the motor carrier census records. A local-radius truck is usually parked close to home when it is sold; a long-haul unit may be out on a run, so tell us where it will be on the day.
Fourteen carriers in town report annual mileage to the FMCSA census, and their median truck logs 18,325 miles a year. Write the current odometer reading down alongside the VIN when you first contact us; it is one of the first two things we ask.
A median model year of 2020 at roadside checks
Seventy Southwest Ranches trucks stopped for FMCSA roadside inspection between August 2024 and August 2026 had a median model year of 2020 on those records. Bring the model year off the title when you describe yours, since it decides which engine and emissions questions we ask.
On those roadside inspection records, a 32.9 percent share of the town’s inspected trucks carried a model year ten or more years back. Any inspection report from a stop, along with service records kept in the cab, should be photographed and sent; it shows us the truck’s history in its own paperwork.
South pits, east terminals
From White Rock Quarries to the Port Everglades tanks
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists White Rock Quarries, a crushed-stone operation, 7.8 miles south of town, with the FEC Quarry and the Pennsuco Cement Plant both 11.9 miles south. A dump truck or mixer that has worked those pits can be collected from the job lot or your driveway; tell us the address and whether a loaded trailer can reach it.
Port Everglades sits 8.7 miles away on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ list of ports, and the Energy Information Administration records the Port Everglades East Terminal petroleum terminal 13.5 miles east. If your tanker or day cab worked the port gates, note which terminals it served so that history travels with the photos.
Thirteen miles east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Transflo CSXT liquid bulk terminal. A tractor that has shuttled from that transload does not need to come back into town to be sold; give us the lot and someone who can open the gate.
Construction crews and Broward’s plant nurseries
Construction held 305 of the 2,223 Southwest Ranches jobs in 2023, a 13.7 percent share, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Seventy-eight builders and trade contractors appear as construction establishments in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns for Southwest Ranches. Contractors’ flatbeds, dump trucks and tool-body trucks from that work are ones we buy, titled to a person or to the company.
Agriculture, forestry and fishing account for 117 local jobs, 5.3 percent of the total, in the same LEHD figures. USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 658 farms in Broward County, with potted flowering plants, foliage plants and equine leading the list. Nursery box trucks, stake beds and horse haulers are on our list; photograph the body, the liftgate if there is one, and the title.
The questions we get asked in Southwest Ranches
- Can you collect a dump truck sitting on a site near White Rock Quarries, or must I haul it home to Southwest Ranches first? The Mine Safety and Health Administration places White Rock Quarries 7.8 miles south of town, close enough that we collect the dump truck at the site itself. Send the site address and the name of the person who opens the quarry-side gate.
- My truck’s Florida title went missing somewhere on the ranch; who issues the duplicate?Florida titles are issued by the state’s title agency, and a replacement for a truck registered in Southwest Ranches comes from that agency. Start the request before you sell and tell us it is in progress; we can talk about the truck while the paperwork comes through.
- Will you buy a horse trailer and the truck that pulls it?Equine is one of the top farm categories in Broward County in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and we buy the trucks that serve it. Send photos of the truck and the trailer, with both VINs, and say whether they are sold together.
