Small fleets on the Sun City Center roster
The top three of the 107 Sun City Center carriers on FMCSA’s census field 10, 9 and 8 power units apiece. Whether your tractor sits in a driveway or a shared yard, give us the street address where it stands and a phone number for whoever holds the keys.
Of those 107 carriers, FMCSA’s census counts 63 that stay inside Florida, 44 that cross state lines and 20 that run private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck that has only worked intrastate may carry just its Florida registration; an interstate unit should come with its cab card, so have whichever applies in the glovebox when we arrive.
New registrations keep arriving here, with 15 carriers added in 2025 and 12 in 2024 on FMCSA’s census. If you bought the truck recently to start out on your own, the title may still show a lienholder; send us the lender’s name early so the payoff letter is part of the paperwork from the start.
Coil, car haulers and paper loads out of southern Hillsborough
General freight is the cargo 83 local carriers declare to FMCSA, with motor vehicles listed by 23, metal sheets, coils and rolls by 18, and paper products by 15. That mix points to dry vans, car-hauler rigs and flatbeds with coil racks, and we take the tractor and the trailer together or apart.
If your rig carried coil or sheet steel, photograph the chains, binders and any coil racks still mounted, since those come with the sale unless you tell us otherwise. Car-hauler owners should note the ramp setup and headboard in the photos, and van owners the door and floor.
Seventeen carriers here reported annual mileage to the federal carrier census, with a median of 61,633 miles per truck. Read the odometer before you call and send a clear picture of the dash; the reading is one of the first things we ask for.
What inspectors logged on local rigs
Federal roadside inspection records for 48 trucks from this area, checked between September 2024 and August 2026, put the median model year at 2020, and 27 percent were ten or more model years old. Whichever side of that line your truck falls on, the VIN tells us the build year, so put it in your first message.
Hold on to those FMCSA inspection reports. If your truck went through a roadside check, the report and any service invoices you hold sit well beside the title and registration when we review the unit.
From Caloosa Materials to the Tampa terminals
Caloosa Materials, an industrial-mineral mine the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 5.2 miles west of town, is the closest heavy site to Sun City Center. A dump truck or tractor parked at a mine gate can be collected where it stands, provided someone on site can let us in and point us to it.
Northward, the North American Rail Network shows the East Tampa yard 11 miles away, while the Port Manatee yard sits 11.9 miles to the south-west. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Tampa Port Authority 13.3 miles north and the Kinder Morgan liquid bulk terminal 13.4 miles north, and the Energy Information Administration lists petroleum product terminals at Tampa and Port Manatee, each 13.4 miles out.
Tank tractors and drayage units based around those terminals do not need to be driven back to Sun City Center. Tell us which lot the truck is on, whether a gate pass is required, and who manages the yard, and the collection is set up with them.
Payrolls, contractors and county farmland
Sun City Center held 5,573 jobs in 2023, and the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place 84 of them, about 1.5 percent, in transportation and warehousing. If the title is in your personal name rather than a company’s, check that it matches your ID before we come.
Eighteen contractors’ establishments operate in the area, per the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from building work are all trucks we buy, and a photo of the body, the hoist or the crane plate helps us identify the setup.
Across Hillsborough County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,992 farms, led by aquatic plants, cattle and transplants. Livestock haulers and nursery box trucks parked on a farm road are collected from the property; send directions to the barn or the shed where the truck sits.

Give us the lot name and a yard contact.
- I ran coil and sheet metal out of here. Do you buy flatbeds with racks?Eighteen Sun City Center carriers list metal sheets, coils and rolls with FMCSA, and their flatbeds and coil-rack trailers are on our list. Send photos of the deck and the securement gear with the VIN.
- What should I have ready before pickup? With 63 of the 107 local carriers on FMCSA’s census running only inside Florida, most owners here need the Florida title, current registration and any inspection or service records. Lien release papers go in the folder too if the truck was financed.
