Lake County pits
Sand plants close to Tangerine
Astatula Sand Plant, a sand and gravel operation listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, sits 7 miles south-west of Tangerine. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has hauled from that pit may still be parked near the loading area or in a yard close by, and we collect it from wherever it sits. Before you call, have the title and the registration in hand.
North-west of town by 11.1 miles, Lisbon Sand appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as another sand and gravel site. If your truck has worked the run between Lisbon and Astatula, tell us which of the two it hauled from and where it is parked now, so the pickup can be planned around that address.
Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Okahumpka, an industrial-mineral mine 15.3 miles west, and the Mid-Coast Aggregates LLC-Mazak Mine, a crushed-stone quarry 23.9 miles south-west. Trucks that have rotated between sand and stone sites often carry scale tickets or site passes in the cab; keep them with the truck, as they help us see what it has done.
RAND, Heniff, Transflo
Rail yard and liquid terminals east of town
Twenty miles east of Tangerine, the RAND rail yard shows up in the North American Rail Network that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics maintain. Tractors that shuttle loads to and from a yard like this can be collected at the driver’s home, a drop yard or a shop lot; give us the street address and a name for whoever holds the keys.
Two liquid bulk terminals sit in that same direction: Heniff, 20.7 miles south-east, and Transflo CSXT, 21.1 miles east, both on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list. If your tractor has pulled tank trailers into either one, send photos of the cab, the frame, the fifth wheel and the tires, plus the VIN.
Gather any inspection reports or service records kept for terminal access before you reach out. They are not required, but they let the questions we ask be about this specific tractor and the tanker work it has done around Heniff and Transflo.
Contractors and crews working out of Tangerine
Tangerine had 260 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, and 78 of them, or 30 percent, were in construction. Work of that kind uses dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies, and those are trucks we buy from owners here.
A contractor winding down a crew truck or a tandem dump can leave it exactly where it is. Tell us whether it is parked at a job site, a home driveway or a shop yard in or around Tangerine, and send the title, the registration and a few clear photos taken in daylight.
If the title has been lost, the state’s title agency handles a replacement, so start that request early. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we will tell you what else to have ready alongside it.
Nursery and foliage trucks in Orange County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 600 farms in Orange County, with foliage plants, propagative material and potted flowering plants at the top of the county’s list. Growers like these move stock in box trucks, straight trucks and reefer units.
If your box truck or reefer has run plants out of an Orange County nursery, tell us the body type, the length and whether the refrigeration unit comes with it. A truck parked at a greenhouse or a growing operation can be collected right there; just give us a gate contact.
