Dairy barns and pasture trucks near the creek
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 535 farms in Okeechobee County and ranks milk first among them, ahead of cattle and corn. A truck that has spent its years on a dairy route here is often a tanker tractor or a straight truck kept near the milking barns, and that is where we can collect it. Tell us which farm gate it sits behind and who can let us in.
Cattle come second on that same Census of Agriculture list for Okeechobee County, so livestock haulers and the tractors that pull cattle pots are common around Taylor Creek. If yours pulled stock trailers between pastures, say whether the trailer is part of the sale or stays with you, and send a few photos of the tractor on its own.
Corn rounds out the county’s top three crops in the 2022 USDA tally. Grain bodies and farm dump trucks that only come out at harvest can sit parked for months on a property, and a parked truck is no obstacle for us. Have the title in hand and the registration if you still have it.
Stone hauls
Quarries east and south-east of town
Eighteen point four miles east of Taylor Creek, the Fort Pierce Mine appears on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s rolls as a crushed-stone quarry. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors running stone out of a pit like that one end up parked back home in Okeechobee County between jobs. Give us the address where yours is kept between jobs rather than the quarry, and we will plan the collection there.
South-east of town, MSHA records place 1412 Canal Point, an industrial-mineral mine, at 20 miles, and Five Stones Mine, LLC., another crushed-stone quarry, at 21.2 miles. If your truck is still on site at one of these operations, find out who controls access to the yard before we arrange a visit, since a mine gate usually needs a name on a list.
Seventy-four builders across the county
Seventy-four construction establishments operate in the county, according to County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau. Contractors like these run flatbeds, dump trucks, box trucks and service bodies, and a business selling one usually has the paperwork filed under the company name. Check that the name on the title matches the seller before you call.
When the truck belongs to a contractor that has closed or downsized, the person signing needs authority to sell it for the business. Gather the title, any lien release, and service records if the shop kept them, then send photos of the cab, the body and the VIN plate so we know exactly which unit it is.
Model years on file
Between September 2024 and August 2026, inspectors stopped 56 Taylor Creek trucks at roadside, and FMCSA’s records of those stops put their median model year at 2009.5. FMCSA’s roadside inspection records also show roughly 66 percent of those inspected trucks were ten or more model years old. Older or newer, we look at any commercial truck an owner here wants to sell.
Was your rig among those pulled over for a roadside check? Clip that inspection report to the title and keep both together. Have the inspection sheets, the registration and the odometer reading ready when you contact us.
Reaching pasture and yard
Roads and bridges around the creek
The National Bridge Inventory, kept by the Federal Highway Administration, lists 11 bridges in the Taylor Creek area, with none posted for load and none under 14 feet of clearance. A low-boy or rollback carrying a loaded truck out of here has no posted bridge or low span on that federal list to plan around.
Even so, a truck parked down a pasture track or behind a locked farm gate takes a little planning. Tell us how the ground is near the truck, whether a gate needs a key, and a phone number for someone nearby on the day we come.
The questions we get asked in Taylor Creek
- My truck hauled milk for a dairy outside Taylor Creek. Can it be picked up right there among the cows?Okeechobee County’s 535 farms list milk as their top product in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, so dairy trucks parked on farms are common here and we come to the farm to collect. Pass along the dairy’s road address plus whoever holds the key to the pasture gate.
- The dump truck is still at a quarry near Fort Pierce. Is a trip home to Taylor Creek needed? The Fort Pierce Mine sits 18.4 miles east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and the truck can stay right there. Name the quarry contact who signs visitors in, and the pickup gets booked through that person.
- My Taylor Creek truck’s title went missing somewhere on the ranch. Where do I get a new copy?A missing title for a Taylor Creek truck is replaced through the state’s title agency in Florida. Mention the pending duplicate when you reach out, and say whether a lienholder still appears on the old one.
