Racks on the bay
The Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal at Niceville, 2.5 miles north-east of Valparaiso, close enough that a tanker parked there is effectively in town. If your tractor has loaded at that rack, tell us whether it sits at the terminal lot or at your home, and we will arrange collection at whichever address you give.
Further east, 22.4 miles out along the bay, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records Murphy Oil as a liquid bulk terminal, and the Energy Information Administration places a petroleum product terminal at Freeport at the same distance. A tractor that shuttles between Freeport and Niceville may be parked at either end when you decide to sell. Send the VIN, the title and a few photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel, and name the terminal where it is sitting.
Tank work leaves a paper trail that helps a sale here. Keep the registration, any annual inspection reports and the service records together with the title, so the truck’s history arrives with it rather than after it.
The bases
Hauling near Eglin’s gates and Moreno Point
Eglin Air Force Base begins 6 miles north of Valparaiso, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and the same agency lists the Destin Moreno Point military installation 5.5 miles to the south. Trucks hauling for contractors on either side often stay parked near a gate between jobs.
If yours is inside a controlled area, move it to a public lot or your driveway before collection, or tell us who can escort a driver in. Give us the street address, a phone contact for whoever holds the keys, and a note on whether a tow truck can reach it without backing down a narrow lane.
Dump trucks from the northern pits
Mine Safety and Health Administration records place G2C Sand Mine, an industrial-mineral operation, 14.6 miles north of Valparaiso. Two sand and gravel operations, Mosseyhead Mines and Mossy Head West, sit 21.4 miles to the north-east in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listings.
Dump trucks and end-dump trailers serving those pits can be sold from the yard where they are kept. Photograph the body, the hoist and the cab, write down the odometer reading, and tell us whether the truck is at the pit or at a yard closer to town.
If you run gravel for local construction, your title may list a company rather than you. Have the registration in the name shown on the title and a signed authorisation from the business if you are not the owner of record.
Bayou employers
Who employs drivers in Valparaiso
For 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 3,633 jobs in Valparaiso, with construction at 208, manufacturing at 199 and wholesale trade at 147. Each of those sectors keeps box trucks, flatbeds and tractors on the road around the bayou.
A contractor winding down one of those crews can sell a single truck or several at once; list each VIN and where each one is parked.
Okaloosa County counted 444 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cotton, cattle and equine at the top. A livestock hauler or a farm truck from north of the base is just as welcome as a highway tractor.
What FMCSA saw on Valparaiso trucks
FMCSA roadside inspection records from August 2024 to August 2026 cover 305 trucks inspected around Valparaiso, with a median model year of 2016 and 54.1 percent ten or more years old. Note your truck’s model year and engine make next to the VIN when you contact us.
Copies of reports from those roadside stops belong in the truck’s file. Hand them over along with the maintenance log; they record the truck’s history in a way photos cannot.
Bridges and access around the bayou
The National Bridge Inventory from the Federal Highway Administration lists 10 bridges in and around Valparaiso, none load-posted and none under 14 feet of clearance. A tall tractor or a loaded tow can reach most addresses here without a detour.
What matters more is the spot itself. Tell us if the truck sits behind a locked gate, on soft sand or on a residential street, so the tow driver brings the right equipment the first time.
The questions we get asked in Valparaiso
- The tanker I haul with is still sitting at the Niceville rack. Will a pickup there work?Niceville’s terminal is 2.5 miles north-east of Valparaiso on Energy Information Administration listings, so we collect it where it stands. Give us the address and who at the terminal can let the driver in.
