Blue Goose, Capron Trails and the other pits
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Blue Goose Mine 7.3 miles north-west of Vero Beach and Vero Rock and Sand half a mile beyond it at 7.8 miles. Dump trucks and tractors pulling end-dumps out of those two pits are trucks we buy. If yours is parked at a pit gate rather than at home, tell us which operation it is so we know who to call for access.
Capron Trails Mine, a crushed-stone quarry, appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration listings 9.8 miles south-west of town, and Brisbane Pit, an industrial-mineral mine, sits 19.8 miles out to the north-west. A truck that hauls aggregate between these sites can stay where it last worked. Send the VIN, a clear photo of the title, and pictures of the cab, the body and the frame rails.
Containers and rail at Fort Pierce, fifteen miles south
Fifteen miles south, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records a rail intermodal ramp at Fort Pierce. Day cabs that drayed containers to and from that ramp fit what we purchase, and so do the chassis-pulling tractors parked near it. Give us the address of the lot and the name of whoever holds the keys.
Two rail yards named FT PIERCE and FORT PIERCE show up on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, at 15.5 and 15.6 miles from Vero Beach. If your tractor is sitting at a yard lot there rather than in Indian River County, that is where we collect it. Have the registration and any service records together before we arrive.
Of the 375 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census for Vero Beach, general freight is the line 187 of them file under. Box trucks, straight trucks and sleeper tractors from those operations are all on our list. A clean title in the name of the person or company selling is the one document that matters most, so find it first.
Among those same carriers, 44 haul machinery and large objects, 39 move fresh produce and 37 carry motor vehicles, per FMCSA’s census. Lowboys, reefer units and car haulers each come with their own equipment, so tell us what is mounted or coupled to the truck when you send photos.
Of the 375, FMCSA records 314 as intrastate only, 61 as interstate and 150 as private fleets hauling their own goods. A Florida-only truck usually has its paperwork in one place: the Florida title and current registration are what we ask for.
Unit counts, annual miles and the 2019 median
The three biggest fleets in the city, according to FMCSA’s census, run 35, 17 and 16 power units, with 120, 20 and 29 drivers. Selling several tractors from one operation works the same as selling one; list each VIN and where each unit is parked.
For 56 local carriers that report it, FMCSA’s census puts median annual miles per truck at 24,788. The same census shows 646 drivers working within 100 miles and 295 going further. A truck that stays close to home is usually easy to find; one on the road needs a date and place when it will be parked.
FMCSA roadside inspection records from 2024-09-20 to 2026-07-28 cover 37 trucks based here, with a median model year of 2019 and 29.7 percent ten or more years old. Whatever the model year, the steps are the same: title, registration, photos, and the truck’s location.
Builders, plants and Indian River farms
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 19,098 jobs in Vero Beach, including 1,375 in manufacturing and 1,146 in construction. Vero Beach builders account for 115 construction establishments on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally. Flatbeds, dump bodies and service trucks working those jobs are trucks we take; a contractor’s truck parked on a job site can be collected there if you tell us the site contact.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 492 farms in Indian River County, with aquatic plants, cattle and equine as the top lines. Livestock haulers, horse transport tractors and farm straight trucks qualify. If the truck is on a ranch off a county road, send a dropped pin with the address.
Bridges on the way to the pickup
Across Vero Beach, 38 bridges appear in the Federal Highway Administration’s National Bridge Inventory, not one of them load-posted or lower than 14 feet. Our tow and haul equipment can reach a truck anywhere in town without a detour around a low or weight-limited span.
That leaves the lot itself as the thing to describe. Tell us whether the gate is wide enough for a lowboy and tractor, whether the ground is paved or sand, and whether anything is parked in front of the truck.
The questions we get asked in Vero Beach
- My tractor sits on a lot by the Fort Pierce rail yards. Must I bring it up to Vero Beach for the sale?Fort Pierce’s intermodal ramp is 15 miles south on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listing, and the truck stays where it is. Send the lot address and who can let us in.
- Which documents does a Vero Beach seller need on hand? For a Vero Beach truck, have the Florida title, current registration, the VIN and photos of the cab, body and frame. Service or inspection records help if you kept them.
